Well, wasn't expecting that but it's awesome nonetheless. I admit I've only really seen Jodie in Broadchurch but I'm willing to give it a shot and see how this turns out. Missy warmed me up to the idea of a female Doctor.
Some of the reactions on social media though...jeez. No one's saying to blindly accept it, but also not to do the opposite thing either and to write it off as armageddon when it's not even been four hours since she was announced and we haven't even seen anything of her Doctor properly yet. Which to me kind of reeks of hypocrisy because some of these same people were deriding Tennant/Smith fans who turned off when Capaldi was cast.

Regarding the next Doctor being female, I have no problem with it, I'm a bit shocked, but fair play to them for doing it. Besides, The Master was female a few years ago, so The Doctor is next. I wish Jodie good luck, it feels fresh to see something like this happen. I think she'll do well, not seen her in other roles but BBC must be very confident in her.

As long as the writing and characters are improved, that's all I care about!

I don't know what too feel actually. Although I didn't really like the idea, I am sure that I will be crying when she leaves the show.
I am not a sexist or anything but if the TARDIS stopped being a police box it would have the same big effect to the fandom. I think somethings are symbolic and shouldn't be changed. Still, I do not have any prejudice against her, it just feels weird. Chibnall knows her wery well and I don't think he choosed her for nothing. |

The hatred towards a female Doctor is strong on social media, with some claiming they've quit the show due to Jodie being the Doctor. I've realised now that this was also something Sidney Newman wanted since the 80s. I hope she plays the part well.

As always i dont get why people see a problem in that.
I dont know much about Doctor Who, but i know that the Doctor is a alien that can change his apperance(or something like that XD). So im not sure why the only problem there seems to be the "woman" part. You literally have a character who can be anything, yet somehow people are only okay when this character is a white Male? The logic seems to be lost on me there. Its also worrying that for people the first thought is: "Is this just done for diversity" If the first thougth people have on anything is that it might have been done for some kind of agenda...then we have not come as far as we want to think. Either way, i watched the teaser and it looks nice...i always wanted to get into doctor who, but i dont know where to start. The show goes for 20 years or so right? |

Best way to start the show would be either start with Classic who or some start with new who which starts in 2005 with the episode "Rose"
Classic Who is split into seasons while New who is split into Series Hope this helps

Series and seasons mean the same thing. It's just series is more commonly used in the UK.

There's 26 seasons of Classic Who (Although be aware if you do go that route a good chunk of the first six are missing. Technically it's possible to experience them all, with the help of animated/photo reconstructions and every episode exists as an audio recording if you don't mind that) and 10 series of Modern Who.
This might help if you're looking for a place to start with it. ![]() http://www.cultbox.co.uk/features/li...ing-doctor-who
