I had no doubts. Kristin Scott is an insurance. She is one of the best British actresses and Alicia is very good at dramatic roles. Simply together the movie goes up a lot. I would pay to see a sequel with Kristin as a villain.

I know!!! I think if they took the bones of Rise of the Tomb Raider and gave the Ana with cancer storyline looking to live forever I think Scott Thomas could do knocks above Cate Blanchett Villain level.

There's a really strong flair coming off Alicia in these clips too, IMO. Anyone else feel it?

She's perfect for this role and brings gravitas to the character, I'm happy with what I've seen from her performance my only hope it that they'd don't get to Yamatai and drop all that wonderful emotional core for mindless action sequences. I suspect they won't thought having Goggins on board.

Wow thoses scenes are really calm and touching. I don't have any doubt now Alicia Vikander will be incredible and Kristen Scott Thomas give Ana a real personality (not the evil bitch look). The music kinda reminds me of Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows, something intimate and adult.

It's actually shocking how from these clips alone they all have so much connective tissue their actually telling a story compared to the Angelina movies.

That could happen tbh. I want to see Alicia break down at least once

Same, it's not dialogue just to make exposition about the film , it feels real.

I think a case study and cues from Hunger Games is what this film needed to be honest. From the start Katniss is a strong but flawed character with father issues but her strength and skills are set up from the start, she is routed in emotion and drama throughout the entire book/film and even when she gets to the games she still struggles and remains vulnerable up until the end.

This movie seems similar in the way Lara is portrayed and it will hopefully work out for the better, there will probably be parallels drawn between the two but that certainly isn't a bad thing. Especially if this manages to pay off in critical reception.

I like that Alicia was involved creatively and made a harder and emotional film. Not like Geneva wanted: a comedy of action ...
