Honestly, I try that feature almost once in each year, saying "I am sure I misunderstood something, I misread the TRLE manual", but no, whatever I do, I can't play audio files with classic CD triggers multiple times. Perhaps Core only wanted that feature but they forgot to realize that?
Besides, do you remember any moment when TRLR played a single music track more than once? I tried to remember, but no. Naturally I could be wrong...
When you say "only max 2", that is far more than I ever did...

I noticed that in classic editor, I mean when I were building BtB2014. Guess this is a bug which we have to live with.

I think there's general misunderstanding how trigger mask buttons (1-2-3-4-5) work with CD triggers. Manual is also completely wrong describing this feature. It is properly described in TRS3 document (look for 4.6.9. TrigAction 0x08 — Play Soundtrack chapter).

Simply said, you have to toggle either 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 trigger mask button to play same track once again, but it will only work if you use it on different triggers. E.g., you can play same track in two different parts of your level using different CD triggers with trigger mask 1 and trigger mask 2, but you can't force playing same track twice on same trigger, say, placing both CD triggers with mask 1 and 2 on the same sector. As long as track was triggered for that particular mask, it won't play again.

Also you can use one shot flag as extra play count, because for CD trigger, engine treats one-shot flag as extra trigger mask, so overall you can play the track 6 times in your level, using 6 different CD trigger setups.

I'm not sure I understand any of that at all... Can you or can you not set a CD trigger to play an audio file more than once in a row? Let's say I want an audio track to play 3 times in a row after Lara steps on the trigger - is that possible or not?

Not if you want to use the same trigger 3 times.
But it shoulkd work when you have 3 different triggers.

At least that's how I understand it now.

That's what it seems, but that also means no playing in a row at all... if 1 trigger can only trigger the track playback once...

Nevertheless, Lwmte's explanation might be worth adding to the tutorial section somewhere, otherwise it might be lost & forgotten quickly.

It does work with looping background tracks.
Those are the tracks numbered with 100 or higher if I remember correctly.

(Speaking of the original TRLE ofcourse. You can loop any track with TRNG.)

Btw, I've added lwmte's command to my own old little tutorial on sound and audio.

You mean the CD trigger can start a background audio loop that will play forever until another CD trigger is activated?
