The reverse slow-mo scene was the trailer. In the game you can only see the house from the outside and then it explodes. Kinda disappointing that they didn't use the trailer scene as the intro.

The video is in the game actually, but only showing while you're inactive in the main menu for some time. I guess it wasn't really an intro

Yeah, I know it was the trailer. For some reason I thought it doubled as either the intro, or the idle screen.

Possibly it should have been the intro. It lines up with the game chronologically (the game starts with the explosion reaching her secret passage) after all.

As it is, it just plays if you do nothing in the main menu, so most players will miss it.

I think that was just a promo for the game? The actual intro was the Manor just blowing up and lara starting in the basement.

Omg I've always loved it but looking back it does feel very amateurish

I certainly didn't really expect for the Tomb Raider franchise to get rebooted for the LAU series to begin with...

I've always said it felt like Crystal misunderstood Lara and Legend Lara always came across as a female James Bond and this introduction proves my point further. Did I hate it? Eh, not really. Though, I can't say I gave it much thought.

After Angel of Darkness, Legend was a return to the roots as far as I'm concerned, because no incarnation of Lara or Tomb Raider has ever been more unLaraish and unTombraiderish than AoD in my opinion.

Tbh, I feel this only rings true in terms of gameplay. Lara herself in AoD was still classic Lara, just more fleshed out and a bit more snappy, which was perfectly fitting given the past events.
