I like the idea of someone being able to chose single player vs co-op, the same way that they can chose the difficulty settings. I don't know how scary the Resident Evil games are considered to be. All I know is that the only Resident Evil game I've completed (RE4) is a game that I don't consider to be scary, but I am hard to scare when it comes to horror games and films.
The PS1 era Resident Evil games were scary like being bitten by a Zombie lying on the floor that you thought was dead or the dogs jumping through the window, the first encounter with a Zombie munching on a dead body and letting the dogs into the entrance hall if you try to leave through the front door, it's obvious now that the Zombie was never dead and the game was successful in luring the player into a false sense of security, it's because of Zombieland that I now do the double tap before I get too close to a Zombie and after I kill a Zombie just to be sure it's really dead.

It's true that some Resident Evil games have become less scary over the years that's partly to do with the action oriented Resident Evil games and partly me becoming desensitised to the point where apart from Alien Isolation and Until Dawn, that said some of them like the RE2MAKE and RE7 still create a tense atmosphere never knowing exactly will be waiting around the next corner.

RE4 has the right balance between action and horror but RE4 is the exception, RE5 and RE6 went too far with the overemphasis on action over horror.

Alien Isolation is particularly tense not knowing when the alien will kill you and waiting what feels like several eternities before a save point can be used again and hoping that the alien doesn't creep up and kill you while you wait, even more tense than waiting for a save point to become available again is when the alien is standing right in front of you and you hope that it doesn't see you, the sense of relief I get when it walks away not having seen me can't be described, the same thing happens in Until Dawn when the Wendigos are standing right in front of me and I have to stay perfectly still or they see me and kill me, sometimes the vibration from the controller alerts the Wendigo to my presence making holding the controller perfectly still even more tense.

You should try the remake of the original Resident Evil it's available on PS3, if you want to play Alien Isolation and Until Dawn you will need a PS4.

Just watch out for the Crimson Head Zombies, if after you kill a Zombie you don't burn it, it will reanimate as a faster deadlier Zombie, then there's invisible enemy mode and One Dangerous Zombie mode which features a Zombie covered in grenades who can't be killed if you shoot him the grenades explode he runs faster than other Zombies and the One Dangerous Zombie can't be turned off once activated, defense items like the Dagger, Flash Grenade and Stun Gun also cannot be used against him, he does disappear never to be seen again after the boss fight with Plant 42.

I do plan to watch LPs for Resident Evil, starting with RE1. If I like what I see then maybe I might consider buying the games and playing them. Most of the earlier Resident Evil games should be on consoles that I own. I don't know when I'll get around to trying LPs for the games as I do also plan to watch LPs for Crystal's Tomb Raider games, as well as playing my own games. By watching LPs for Resident Evil, I'll be a lot more familiar with the series and I can have an opinion on the games as well. There are some games I probably won't play as I did play a tiny bit of them and wasn't that keen on them for one reason or another.

Tip for that: Load the latest save before the final boss, get the Dragoon from the Duke, beat the boss and then save on another slot. That's how I did it to get my infinite ammo at the beginning

In other news, the Console Versions got a new Patch today (v. 1.03)

Quote:
  • Fixed game crashing issues.
  • Addressed some gameplay-related issues.
  • Added stability fixes
  • Added performance improvements.
  • Other under the hood fixes.

They need to rebalance these weapons. Why does the M1911 fire faster than an actual submachine gun (V61). Then, why is the V61 much stronger than the M1911?

Edit:
Sorry, I made a mistake. THe V61 is only slightly faster.

Whoever balanced the stores must be the office clown.

For example, when you purchase models, you have to send 8,800 points to complete a challenge that's worth 1,000.

Maybe I could tempt you to spend £1000 to enter a competition where the prize is only £100?

We call that a pyramid scheme.

Edit:

Ugh... I finally got knives out... #literallyShaking

Entering such a competition would be about as logical as doing the thing that you mentioned where the amount of points that you earn is less than what you have to spend.

Didn't want to get Village so soon, but I got it for a great price.

Playing through it, and I am getting RE4 and RE5... a little RE6 ridiculousness.
Also, at times I feel like I am playing a Devil May Cry game, I don't know what is it that makes me feel that.

Village is boring, Complete ****.

Castle is beautiful and wonderful
but short-lived. Just like the Queen Alcina and her daughters. It's disgusting that their story ended so soon

Beneviento is where I currently am, and it looks great so far.

Castle and Beneviento I think are the highlights of the game (for me).
I am completely uninterested in the other two houses. I can't stand the burger guy, don't want to go to his **** factory. The other guy like who cares.

Also, where is the horror in this game? I recall someone posting here about them toning down the game because they don't want it to be "too scary".
But there is NOTHING scary about this game. I am breezing through simply enjoying the pretty visuals like wtf?

I'm not entirely sure if you're liking the game or disliking the game; you've spoken positively and negatively about it.
