Default Is It SUPPOSED To Be This Buggy?

I decided to replay the game last night. I originally played it on PS2 back in '07, and I was excited to see how much better it'd be in 1080p with full-res textures, extra lighting, all that good stuff.

It's buggy AF. Like...buggier than playing TR1 on fan-made launchers.

Lara's ponytail levitates and occasionally gets stuck in walls and turns to taffy.
Dead bats teleport around the screen and fly directly at the camera.
Bears and wolves get caught on basic geometry so often that I pity 'em.
Lara's animations often fail to line up with what she's "touching".
When moving a crate, she'll randomly detach, like it's getting caught on nonexistent corners.

I don't think it's my PC being weak, since I played Shadow with minimal issues, but just in case, here are my specs:

*Windows 7 Professional
*I7 3770K 3.50gHz
*Nvidia GTX 970
*16.0 GB RAM

Anyway, if anyone can recommend any fixes, patches, settings...anything I can do to make this run half as well as my old PS2 copy did...I'd really appreciate it.

I heard Legend and Anniversary can become pretty buggy if framerate is higher than 60fps. Maybe that's why some physics related stuff is breaking on your end?

I haven't seen many bugs in this game. The one I remember caused that Lara couldn't throw the grapple hook in "Temple of Khamoon" in the direction of a spot intended for it. As far as I remember, I fixed it by increasing the resolution. I would suggest you to try different resolutions, especially those near to HD or Full HD. Maybe changing the scaling settings in Windows would help.

I'll definitely look into both of the above. Turning on VSync seems to've fixed the teleporting bats issue, so there's a good chance I just need to puzzle out the right combinations of switches and positions.

Like some kind of...Tomb Raider puzzle...

For the LAU games it's 85 FPS. Anything higher makes the physics go crazy and causes these weird bugs.

Although there's a number of bugs that are always there like Lara pulling herself onto certain platforms and immediately falling back down. That's because the animation for that in TRA is different from the one in TRL and now Lara is too close to the edge of a ledge after pulling herself up. And while not being a bug per se, if you use manual grabbing, Lara will still steer towards the nearest climbable thing, even if you steer in a different direction. Very annoying and it basically makes manual grabbing useless. Also your savegame can become corrupted if you change the language while being in a level.

Yeah, I'd try turning on VSync and set the maximum framerate to 60Hz. It helps A LOT in Underworld (and fixes the physics-based issues), so it might also help in Anniversary.

The Wii version is definitely the most fun to play at least. Especially with the extra items and rewards.
