Something hybrid like Rise/Shadow where auto-regen is present but she can quickly heal herself with medipacks. I think it's the best compromise.
Like Underworld you mean...

I didn't remember it was available in Underworld... On Wii and PS2 for sure, but for the next-gen platforms ? I'm currently replaying it on PS3 and I don't recall seeing auto-regen in the game.

Lara’s health regens up till a point slowly.

it's only a 8th of her health bar without any relics if I remember.
Enough for a gunshot or two but without upgrades alot of things still kill her.

I always liked MGS3's system. Which was kind of a mixture of both.

You had "life medicine" but it was incredibly rare. Health bar regenerated gradually based on your secondary stamina bar which you could keep full by eating food you find. Stamina would gradually deplete with actions/movement so you had to constantly maintain it.
You could even gradually extend max health by healing major injuries (which would take chunks out of your existing max health) with bandages, sutures etc. As if you were getting tougher the more you overcame.

I wouldn't want that exactly, I just always liked that version the most. Very well thought out health system. If they could come up with an interesting middle ground like that it'd be cool.

Hmm, not sure I love this. I wouldn't mind an adrenaline bar where if it's full, using a health item will increase the percentage restored and possibly deplete some adrenaline.

I thought it was funny.

I‘m not really interested in the topic though while you‘re the OP, so you‘re obviously after substantial thoughts and opinions.

A health bar is minimalistic. It is far less obtrusive than your screen fading to black and white, blazing over or getting blood splatters.
