The worst AAA game voice acting
I know some of us are disatisfied with the current voice acting of Lara in the reboots but really it isn't *that* bad when compared to with some other AAA games out there.
I have just AGAIN attempted to get into to the Witcher 3. My third attempt as I hear such good things about it and feel it should be my kind of game entirely. But yet again I have had to switch it off and I think I've put my finger on why it grates me so much. The voice acting for Geralt is simply awful (to me). This drone-y monotone-y drawl that I think is meant to suggest Geralt has effortless coolness and swagger, but actually just feels insufferable. I cannot stand it for more than an hour. Ugh. So........... this got me to thinking, what other AAA games have you being dissuaded from playing because the voice acting is so awful? And which AAA game has the worst voice acting? (Please pick something other than TR as that is discussed endlessly elsewhere ) |

Aqua’s voice in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Like, who cares about my friends being consumed by the evil. Thank goodness III solves that...

Any game were instead of hiring a proper voice actress they brought in some celebrity or guest star: I know of two examples: Mass Effect 3 were they had Jessica Chobot, whoever the hell that is, and Saint's Row were they insisted on having famous porn stars do some of the voices.

Horizon Zero Dawn. The voice acting and facial animations creates a very uncanny valley feeling that just ruins it. It's supposed to be this deep story, but I am just so distracted by how the the voice acting doesn't match the character's emotions. Also, the NPS's never shut up in this game. They always have more to say.
Assassins Creed Odyssey is sort of the same way. It's not bad, but it ain't great either. I didn't particularly like the strange Greek-English accent they used in the game, it made the characters sound less authentic somehow. Last edited by Legends; 08-09-19 at 12:22. |

Sonic Adventure for instance had all the voice actors record their lines seperately, without context and only being told to "Sound excited" as direction, it sounds as well as you think, more so since at least one character (Tails) has an actual child as their voice actor. I'm actually not that good at detecting bad acting in general, tbh. I'm very hypersensitive to when actors cannot do English accents, though. Of the top of my head, the voice actress for Elise from Assassin's Creed: Unity does a worse accent than Camilla Luddington, which is saying something. Unfortunate when you consider that game is set in France but everyone has to have an English accent, stupidly.
