Alright, so I set to working on the tone indicators for live selections. How are these?
I struggled with the Blunt label at times. I felt like with some of the ones labeled Blunt, even though they didn't skip dialogue, they still felt matter-of-fact and straight to the point, and so Kind or Rude didn't fit. CARVIER (Rude) Yes, and I don't have time to waste. I'm being chased all over Paris. 20, 243 (Kind) Can I get you anything? 241 --- (Blunt) Who was the commission from? 251 (Ask) Package? 249 --- (Blunt) Were you able to help him? 255 (Ask) Obscura Paintings? 290 --- (Kind) Werner didn't scare easily. (Ask) I wonder why, exactly? (Rude) Can we move this along a bit? --- (Rude) There was gunfire. That's all I can recall. (Blunt) We argued, I can remember that. And - gunfire! --- (Rude) If I wanted to kill Werner, I could have done that in Egypt. (Kind) Mademoiselle, I was a good friend of Werner's. I didn't kill him. I didn't! --- (Rude) Then I suggest you give it to me, now! (Kind) I really am going to need Werner's notebook. ------------------ CITY GUIDE (Rude) The Monstrum is a 'him'? How do you know that? (Ask) What do you really know about the Monstrum? --- (Blunt) What's at Café Métro? (Ask) Who do I talk to there? The owner? ------------------ RENNES (Rude) But you can keep your mouth shut? (Kind) How concerned are you with legal niceties? ------------------ JANICE (Kind) Have you worked in this neighbourhood for long? (Rude) I wouldn't worry, we're not in the same class. --- (Blunt) And no one knows where he is. (Ask) Oh? Trouble? --- (Blunt) Better than anything I have so far. Thanks. I didn't catch your name. (Ask) What makes this cafe owner so unlucky? ------------------ BERNARD (Rude) You should be more polite to strangers. You never know who they are. (Blunt) Your name's Bernard. Janice said I might find you here. --- (Rude) Watch your attitude, old man! (Blunt) I'm trying to find someone. --- (Rude) You'd better not be giving me the run around, old man. (Kind) Here. Now, how do I find Bouchard? ------------------ PIERRE (Blunt) No I don't, but I do deal with problems. Sort them out. (Ask) How would you know? ------------------ LUDDICK (Rude) That one. Big thing with snow on it. (Kind) The one you're watching? With police tape all around it. --- (Rude) Just tell me what you have on the art dealer. (Kind) I gather Vasiley was some kind of art dealer. --- (Blunt) You say he found something. Do you know what it is? A painting perhaps? (Ask) How could you possibly know that? --- (Rude) You unsavoury little runt. (Kind) Keep talking till the money runs out. --- (Rude) Is that it! Is that all you've got? (Ask) All of them? ------------------ BOUCHARD (Rude) So, you sold out. (Ask) A psycho, huh! --- (Blunt) I was told the Mafia ran Prague. (Ask) The Cabal? Not the Mafia? --- (Blunt) So, they were working together. (Kind) I found Vasiley's faxes. And four Obscura Engravings he sent to Von Croy. --- (Ask) Killed like Vasiley, you mean! Why does Eckhardt do that to the bodies, Bouchard? And what does he want the Paintings for? (Blunt) Killed, not tidied up! Why does Eckhardt desecrate the bodies like that, Bouchard? They look great, the options really do make a lot more sense now.
I think you did just fine with Blunt. When I had the idea to do this initially, that was how I saw it as well. Not that the Blunt options were necessarily skipping ahead, just that Lara wouldn't be getting as much info potentially. Like you said, matter-of-fact and all that. I also think it makes sense that with certain characters, she'd either be kind/rude or straight to the point. Like Bernard. Janice tells Lara upfront that he's a "miserable old devil" so Lara would just be wasting her time trying to be overly nice to him. Thanks for putting those together. ![]()

I think it's specifically the multithreading option that causes this but not entirely sure. F10 disables/enables that option afaik.

ok so turning off the intel sse/sse2 things makes it so the game doesnt run traod_p4.exe anymore
edit - can confirm turning off multi threaded fixes it. i'll be sure to make a note next update edit - i just realized the tone indicators might not be able to make it in. the live selections and subs themselves share the same string of text and sometimes asking about something just extends the conversation, leading into the alternate line of text. so you would get Carvier: Werner has been fearful for his life. He accepted a commission five weeks ago. Since then, he's been - acting strangely, jumping at shadows. He even left a package with me for safekeeping. [player chooses "Ask"] Lara: (Ask) Package? [the "Ask" label appears in this current sub since they're shared text] Carvier: His notebook. Addressed to you. Lara: (Blunt) Who was the commission from? [Because this was a choice earlier, the Blunt label appears here] idk i might not do it now Last edited by LateRaider; 21-08-21 at 09:45. |

i never found aod to be problematic with the dialogue choices unlike other games. like you can almost always tell how itll come out before choosing just on how the sentences are structured. so maybe while it was a neat idea its not the biggest loss

Other games also have selectable dialogue with no tone indicators and it's equally never, ever been a problem. |

I just installed this and am very happy with the results. I have to thank all of you who worked on creating all these patches, it really is incredible. Although, I have to say some of the instructions are a bit user unfriendly for non-computer savvy people like myself and it took me hours to follow everything and get it working. For example, I still couldn't get Jathom's EAX fix working - even after trying to follow all those confusing instructions to the letter.
I have another question though: when I recently watched a playthrough of AOD, I saw an effect that when Lara picks up an item it rotates on the side of the screen (similar to TR4/5). I thought this patch would have that but it doesn't - unless I did something wrong. Is there another patch for this? Any help would be much appreciated. As I said, all these different files and folders are really confusing. ![]() |
