Ideally, there would be a patcher program like Nakamichi's multipatcher so people could turn on or off features they don't like but this is what we have at the moment. If people don't like it, they can just not replace the exe file.
The original controls feel absolutely terrible for me after playing with the modded exe for so long, I don't even know how I used to be able to tolerate playing with them. Back in the day before Sasho made his modded exe, there was another person (click4dylan) making modifications, I think just for movement speed and stuff like that so would fit better for people who don't like all the changes but the download links for those are all dead sadly. This is a video of that mod: EDIT: Actually, I think this mod was quite buggy so never mind but a version like this without the bugs would be better for some people. it was interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on sasho's patch but im not removing it from the modpack. this is a collection of mods already assembled in a fashion where the player just has to copy/paste it over their existing installation. meaning before copy/pasting, you can just delete the relevant files to customize it as you see fit. in this case there is only one TRAOD_P4.EXE in Data\bin so it isn't difficult
i hate the original slow walking speed (which is an oversight by core, from what sasho told us) and i would rather have lara hop back as in the classics instead of just back up Last edited by LateRaider; 05-06-21 at 14:28. |

I agree with leaving it in. I don't think anyone wanted it removed per se, just throwing their thoughts in. If anyone prefers classic controls, the exe patch is not mandatory so it's like you said, just skip over that when installing. But I don't know how anyone can stand the sloooow running in particular lol. I thought that was the case too, what you said about an oversight. Didn't Sasho say that Core attempted to implement variable speed increases to Lara's strength upgrades and then ended up keeping her with the slowest one throughout the game?

Not saying I would be able to do this at all, but if I'm understanding correctly, this is what people would ideally want, right? Maybe someone will step forward to make something like this someday.
- Retain classic-style tank controls, but during run mode replace Lara stepping back with her gallop backward from click4dylan's old mod. Or, bring in PS2 controls but ensure they're optimized for keyboard (Would be infinitely more work, but a more satisfying outcome) - Enable movable camera (With auto-assignment to right analog when controller is plugged in?) and camera reset button - Remove walk-to-run transition - Raise Lara/Kurtis to 100% run speed - Increase Stealth Stance speed while slinking along walls? - Disable awkward combat movement - Change Switch Targets command from Roll to another button (Maybe Stealth, and disable the ability to go into Stealth Stance with weapons drawn? You holster your weapon to go into Stealth anyway, and the Weapon Stealth animation is busted.) - Enable shooting while jumping - Enable all moves on stairs - Restore blood/snow (Doable with nakamichi680's EXE patcher, I think?) @LateRaider: I suddenly got this idea regarding the switch targets function. It's nowhere explained in the game which key you need to press to do this. As long as mapping the switch function to another key is not possible yet, at least you could change the "Roll" string in the controls options to "Roll/Switch Target". Since right now they are the same keys. I believe this could be done with the text editor tool
