I'm playing through this game again and am wondering what the game plan is for people who plunge the dagger into their heart and become the dragon.
And then what? Live as a dragon? Conquer the world as a dragon? It would seem there is a loss of self with the transformation and speech is impossible. How will you rule the world without that ability. You can't eat everyone. Lol |

The guy who did it was the leader of a religious cult.
Historically, you can find lots of examples of people doing rather... illogical things in the name of their religious beliefs. |

Probably go and take over the world while he was at it.

Xian in Chinese Taoism means "spiritual immortal" or "transcendent human". It can also mean something close to a shaman or wizard.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xian_(Taoism) Which is why I personally would love it if people stopped spreading the misinformation that the Dagger/Temple of Xian is in the Chinese city of Xi'an - two completely different words. So, going off of that, we can maybe read into the entire story that the Dragon Emperor's and Bartoli's desire to become a dragon and "transcend" is a lot more esoteric and nebulous than just becoming a fire-breathing monster. To my understanding the Dagger of Xian transforms the user into an unkillable dragon and your army given immense power. The only way to defeat the dragon and the army is to take the dagger from the heart of the dragon.
Bartoli used the dagger so he and his cult followers would be given immense power and take over the world, yadda yadda typical bad guy stuff.

Marco Bartoli was a huge fan of Dragon Ball and so he wanted to be just like Shenlong, hence the dragon transformation.
All jokes aside, it was probably for reasons of power and domination. |

Do you think Winston would have also turned into a dragon-man like the opening FMV General?

Think I would rather be a Dragon than be a Spider, as thats what happened to Doctor Willard. Who wants to be a creepy spider?
![]() ![]() There are a lot of transformations in Tomb Raider series, just look what happened to Natla, she grew wings..... ![]() |

Actually Natla didn’t transform at all! It is actually a small mutant with wings that has latched onto her that gives her the ability to fly and the ability to shoot those explosive projectiles.

![]() You're serious? I could just about imagine I may have heard this once before but let me tell you, I sure as hell thought it was Natla undergoing Evolution™ back when I first played the game! Last edited by Sat42; 17-11-22 at 22:01. |
