As for the equipment... you could just aim your phone camera at the screen if all else fails.

Well, it wasn't easy, but I did it on my first try. I say it's not easy because the developers clearly wanted you to kill the T-Rex, because when you try to escape the area with the three cogs, the T-Rex chases you to the area where you climb out! I had no idea it would follow you that far. So even if you manage to climb the first ledge, the T-Rex can knock you back down! So it took a few tries to finally get away from it.

It adds an extra layer of creepiness when you're in the side caves and can still hear the T-Rex footsteps outside.

And yay, got an achievement out of it!

I did this with the remaster to get the trophy. It was a lot tougher than I thought, but rewarding.

I don't think that I'll attempt this challenge; the idea isn't very appealing to me. I suspect that I would be successful with the challenge if I was to try it, but the appeal just isn't there.

On a separate note, you don't need guns in order to kill dinosaurs; a simple sneeze will do an adequate job:
