Unhappy Problems with Console Edition

Hello! I'm playing Tomb Raider 4 [PS1 German Import] on my PS2 (Unmodded) I've been playing until Burial Chambers and was ready to finish it, upon going to the finish level trigger I noticed that the cutscene that was meant to play didnt, neither did the Level, it was stuck on a black screen... I cant progress or do anything, I even tried the Level Skip in Burial Chambers to see if I can get to the Valley of the Kings that way but I cant, theres no way for me to progress, I even put the disk in my Computers Disk slot to see if the FMV files are missing but all 12 of them are there, can TR4 just not be completed on the PS2 or is there perhaps something wrong with my Disk? (its not a newly fractured one I bought a used Disk) everything else up to this point was fine with the Game, no lags, scratchy Audio or anything else? Either way it looks like I'll have to play the Game on PC :/

Iím afraid to say that there is something wrong with your disc and nothing can be done about it.

My PlayStation copy does the exact same thing except it stops working in the City of the Dead section rather than Burial Chambers.

One outside chance you can try is to clean the disc with toothpaste. It works but only rarely, when the scratch in itself is just not enough to cause the problem, but some small dirt or dust inside the scratch is. Them maybe it cleans it enough to work and make a safety copy. Just don't use scratchy toothpaste, the whitening kind.

Be careful! Cleaning a disc the wrong way can cause data loss, there are specific directions to rub and some products can be quite abraisive.

It may be wiser to either buy a proper disc repair kit with instructions, or take it to a place that does that service. If any dvd rental shops still exist in your area they should have a machine to do that.
