TR2 GOLD = 5 LEVELS
TR3 GOLD = 6 LEVELS

Total = 15

TR3 main game has 21 Levels + lot of content crammed in those levels [various enemies, effects, textures, a lot of different stuff]

So what's the problem?

I know, some cuts here and there are needed, because technical limitations, but other than that, it would be possible in some way.

But that's just speculation about some thing that could have been in the past :P

No I think a CD has enough space for that. Remember there were a few PlayStation CDs that had more than one game combined.

Thatís exactly the problem. You need a modded PlayStation to play any normal CD. You canít produce an official PlayStation CD without the equipment used to specially manufacture them, which nobody has.

i think TLA would be doable with some special editing like GM received. combine the geometry of the floor and walls, for one

I'm not an expert but combining the special techniques that were used for Golden Mask, as well as maybe removing some enemies, or even making some rooms slightly smaller (like in Barkhang Monastery in the real TR2, whether that was intentional for this purpose, I don't know). It could be possible, with lots and lots of hard work. Although we have to rely on someone willing and generous enough to do that conversion for us.

The problem would be dealing with the music since, aside from FMV's, that's usually what takes up most of the disc data especially if they use CDDA like the first 2 Tomb Raider games. Cutting out the unused tracks from TR2 would likely alleviate that concern since TR4 uses CDXA audio. Of course, switching the whole thing over to CDXA would fix that as well, but that's probably more work than anybody cares to do.

2 years ago I've managed to convert only the Times level to PS1:

A week ago I had planned to convert the entire Times Exclusive level to the PS1 (including the cutscene).
With some struggle, I managed to rebuild the cutscene in NGLE and tried to make the close as possible to the original. Unfortunately, the speech heads couldn't be included and some camera angles aren't in the correct position.

So, today I will be releasing to the public.

Some bugs may happen (textures, lighting and frame drop) due to PSX limits

Some tools used:

NGLE by Paolone
TR2PRJ by aktrekker
Tomb Raider Image Converter (TRIC) by b122251
Scripter4 by MontyTRC
TR4&TR5 Dev kit provided by Laras Boyfr.
Times Exclusive cutscene animations extracted by sapper

A lot of thanks to everyone mentioned, this project wouldn't be possible without them.

"I would love"?
This is a release, so it's already on PS1 version to anyone to download.
Check the OP again, you will find a link to download.

Superior graphically? You say this because of the higher resolution that is available on PC?

There are a couple differences with TLA's binary compared to TR3's (i.e. train speed is slowed down a little for the submarine in Sleeping With the Fishes, and I think Sofia behaves differently). I'm sure some editing could be done to the level design to account for that though.
