Pretty much all of this. ^

Here's the video in question where he's talking about how they could show us something early if they wanted to, but won't until it's all ready (jump to 14:30)

Also, who can trust this bunch? Neha is perpetually bored out of her mind; Meagan's smiles are stiff and fake; and Dallas is clearly waffling, trying to make it sound like more is done than it actually is.

Pretty sure we won't see anything until 2023. Especially with the recent leak and fan backlash, it's probably back to the drawing board. That would at least be a good thing.

I doubt they are scrapping much, they mostly respond to feedback from internal testers and stuff. Like when the public was actually for the horror elements in Ascension, but CD cut most of it out because of feedback from internal testers.

Who really knows though.

Hopefully when Embracer take over they'll stop this clown show in its tracks.

You're making the same mistake as those blindly cheering for him, in writing him off on the spot as a liar with...simply no proof at all. I've watched the linked video, and this...

he said that they could theoretically show us something in regards to the new game, but he didn't want fans to get the wrong idea that simply because it already looks finished and polished it still has a long way to go.
Doesn't mean the game is already semi-finished or he's simply "bull******** for fan engagement". All he wanted to say is that starting the promo of the game with releasing early footage no matter how "finished" they might look and feel is something he's not a fan of, and I agree with him. It's always better to hold off the announcement of the game until everything is set in stone. Everything is prone to scratching and starting over at some point during development and raising false expectations should be a no-no in any promotion campaign. Look at how the early promo footage of AOD looks like a completely different game from the messed up disaster people ended up playing, or how Ascension have practically nothing to do with TR2013 other than both being set on a Japanese island (at least Ascension stuff were unofficial leaks though).

There's also the acquisition of Embracer group. We don't really know how that affected the development. Actually we don't know anything at all. And "most of the fans coming to conclusion X or Y" is hardly a proof of anyone being this or that. Whatever conclusions that fans jump into, that are unofficial and unconfirmed are their own fault.

"Dallas said this, and i came to a certain conclusion... so he's obviously a despicable liar'

This is peak TRF logic.

I agree with him. I really don't like it when they reveal games and they're not being released until 2038. I prefer a short waiting time after a reveal. It's a more realistic approach in my view, they're not setting themselves up for a fall. 'Oh here is Tomb Raider, releasing March 2023... Oh sorry we have to delay the game because it's not quite ready, coming Fall 2023... We're really sorry guys but it's still not finished, it'll be out by August 2024'. Shadow (which was what? 6 months if I can remember) and I'm pretty sure one of the Resident Evil games did this, the wait time for launch was only a couple of months, that's the approach games should aim for.

Reveal and Promote the game(s) when they're nearly finished.

I agree too. Every TR that had a really long promo schedule (AOD, TRU and 2013 namely) suffered a detrimental effect imo.

Not that a short promo window can be any better as Shadow proved but I hate being teased for years with promises that probably will change or not even make it into the game.

I don't know whether the entire video is worth watching, but the bit around 6:00 where Dallas is talking about trying to honor both C-Lara and R-Lara (LAU doesn't count, apparently) but also to put forward Lara as an eye-catching role-model for future generations... worries me. (Partly because reconciling C-Lara and R-Lara is an impossible task, but also because he doesn't seem to be aware that Lara Croft cannot possibly be a role-model and the consequences of trying to imitate her are completely disastrous for society.)
