I mean, I am not that much into cultural analisys but mainly on the character transformation, of course it's tied, but I'm not that much of a paranoid myself. I am aware of how certains mechanism works, but I'm not the type of holding a cardboard to announce the end of the world.

Hopefully Embracer slaps CD into shape. Are they allowed to fire people? They should start with Reboot Lara, then future brutalism Lara, and then work their way down from the top at CD.

Wow. So you'd think they'd have no excuses now, yet every writer, artist, and designer on the team will blame somebody else for their failure, just like they always do when their product sucks. Rihanna pratchet will probably train her replacement to say "the illuminati didn't let me use classic Lara!" when they sell her boobs separately in a microsoft timed exclusive DLC. I really hope the Embracer group has some executive order secret power to just fire them all and rehire core design and or give it to some other developer. CD is a cock tease who never delivers.

It doesn't, I still just don't think it's going to happen, because people lose their minds every time an established character is race-swapped - which is very much doable, as we've seen, although I don't think it's been worth the backlash in most cases.

Transing a character, on the other hand, is unbroken ground, but considering how the internet generally feels about transgender people, I wouldn't be surprised if it resulted in developers getting doxxed and having threats made against their lives.

All the weebs went insane when Bridget from Guilty Gear was confirmed to be transgender, and that was after a long history (just about twenty years) of her being referred to simply as a femboy (well, at best).

I am very skeptical that they would take that risk with a character like Lara Croft. Everyone is, of course, entitled to keep on catastrophizing (would it be so terrible, anyway?), but I respectfully don't find the moral panic all that sincere.

What is that reason, pray tell? I understood this to mean that Classic Lara's femininity was never really made an important facet of her character, not within the games themselves anyway, and this is very much true.

It doesn't mean that Classic Lara wasn't feminine, or that you could flatten her chest and suddenly that would make her a man - although many of you seem to already think so.
