Chile if that game is only a few months in development then CD are fools if they don't want to release ports or remasters in order to keep the brand alive.

Maybe but some of the works and assets they surely did since 2020 could be there, just transfered to Unreal Engine 5.

Hold up, did you just compare people who enjoyed LAU or Survivor stuff to victims of domestic abuse?

Just because someone enjoyed something you didn’t doesn’t mean they’re emotionally damaged or in an abusive relationship, it just means they enjoyed something you didn’t. That’s okay, people are allowed to like different stuff.

The games are that bad.

This is true, which is why I acknowledge the fact that some of you like, love, or enjoyed them.

I'll fetch you some tissues if my analogy was that upsetting for you. Or maybe some industrial strength lube so you can be triggered on it that much harder.

Nah just pointing out that it’s a pretty crappy analogy. And having played the LAU games, they are cool and fun and good, and people liking them isn’t some kind of failing of character akin to returning to an objectively terrible partner lmao

It's totally not the point I was making anyway.

What was your point? I’ll acknowledge that I might have totally missed it, I’m okay with that.

Depends on how long you've been around on the forums or in the TR fan base.

But basically, Crystal have been promising us for YEARS that this next game will be THE ONE.

Legend was the promise of a return to the tombs, but honestly, Parisian Ghetto in AOD is more "classic-style exploration with unlocking secret areas" than Legend's linear superficial romp, even if it has an urban veneer.

Underworld was promised to be "Explore everything; stop at nothing!" and then ended up being more "Stop at everything; explore nothing." They flat out lied in interviews where they said there would be multiple routes or solutions to puzzles - that didn't happen.

Then TR2013 was at least promoted as "forget everything you know about Lara" which was honest at least, but Rise and Shadow had the perpetual "NOW she will become THE tomb raider" slogan going for them, and she ended up more underdeveloped by the end of both games than she was at the end of TR2013.

So my analogy was more along the lines that I've watched fans on this forum (and elsewhere) voice their frustration with the recent games, but then be gullible every time a hot new trailer drops and Crystal make big promises for us, hoping that this will be THE ONE. Just a few months ago we had people having forumgasms because the new TR logo reminded them of classic TR.

It might not be exactly the same as staying entangled with an abusive partner, but when someone keeps promising you something and never delivering, it might be time to voice one's feeling of betrayal or end the relationship (aka boycott the next game).

I think that's a fair point, I can understand that. I wasn't aware of the broken promises ahead of time. Thank you for explaining it.

I was approaching it from the perspective of "if people liked LAU/Survivor and wanted more of the same, and got more of the same in a hypothetical new game, then they'd have nothing to complain about "

Like I'd be very happy if we did get some kind of honest to god "return to form" in the vein of the classic stuff (or however that would translate to modern gameplay technologies), but if we got LAU 2.0, I'd still be pretty stoked.
