Reboot had way more variations and enemy types. Wolves, Bears, Jaguars, Yaxxil..etc. Uncharted you only had two and even those reboot did better. |

Wolves, bears and Jaguars were way too limited to really count, you only fight a single bear in Rise during the plot, only once or twice in 2013 during the plot and I legititmately forgot Jaguars existed in Rise since you never fight them during the plot. 2013's "Zombies", the incredibly ilogical starved diseased dudes, basically are just encountered once then it's over extremely quickly, they're just melee dudes, I'm not even sure if they do any decent damage since they never had the chance to get close to me. Uncharted's "Zombies", are fought at least twice, actually have a terrifying situation since A: They're faster than 2013's dudes since Nathan can actually blind-fire while moving and B: are encountered in a situation where Nathan doesn't really have any powerful weapons so the encounter is actually tense, they also kill Nathan really easily if you do slip up.

we also had pirhanas and eels to add more tension to underwater segments in Shadow. Shadow had the Yaxxil. they are faster and more vicious and hunt you down while you try to solve the puzzle to enter the resting place of the box. Samz you're just making a joke out of yourself at this point. Last edited by suli; 08-06-20 at 17:18. |

Yes Rise has them, Rise has them the same way Tomb Raider 3 has Crows in London, in so few numbers you can easily forget they even exist, they're not really used to spice up the enemy variety when you only fight them once (or in the case of the Leopards, basically one or two in the entire game.) generally. You yourself said you forgot they exist, which shows how memorable/actually well used they are, which is none because the main story needs Lara to kill enough dudes to break the record of kills in Tomb Raider.

i'm saying there is more enemy verity than uncharted. that's why at the time of release Reboot was more successful than any Uncharted game that came before it. |

Yeah Uncharted has only one "different" enemy type in the original (not going to speak about two since I haven't played it.) but you spend two whole levels going through very different gameplay due to them, You're running and gunning away from tough melee enemies. In 2013, you fight them pretty much the same way you do regular melee enemies, namely struggling against the obnoxious inability to blind fire, also you fight wolves basically only once or twice. In Rise, I forgot Jaguars existed since you really only fight them in Endurance mode, in the campaign they barely spawn, Same with wolves and bears and when they do spawn, they are not a fun experience to fight since this Lara is not designed to move at more than 0.5555 Miles per hour in combat. Uncharted meanwhile has an extended section of the game where you fight the Descendants, including a fight where it's you VS Descendants VS Mercenaries in a brief 3 way fight, which the reboot never does. So it technically has more enemy types, but they're underused and actually fighting them is clunky, Uncharted actually uses it's Descendants more often so they're actually noteworthy/spice up the gameplay more than the small handful of wolves you kill in 2013.

Only took them 3 games to do it, that totally doesn't mean it's still a flaw with 2013/Rise. Or still inferior to the older games where we actually had fun magical enemies that weren't re-used enemies.

I think a blind fire/run and gun mechanic is sorely missing from the reboot games.
