They said no game announcement in the near future. This was back in February. This doesn't mean there can't be anything at the end of the year. I'd love to see her back in giant maze like tombs, with hours of isolated exploring, puzzle solving and platforming; with just the atmospheric noises of wind/water/ghoulish howls every now and then.

Then maybe to Paris/London to take on a few bad guys and get entangled with some shady organisation.... then back off to some other end of the earth to a long lost hidden ancient city/tomb in a race against time to claim a relic before anyone else...

And just enough dialogue to give Lara opportunities for sassy cold one-liners!! sweet

How is the end of this year not "the near future", it's only 8 months away. That's quite near.

But imagine it will really happen at this time, what would they say ? "Not now" ? "Soon" ? Everyone will think that could happen in any gaming conventions, that way.

They could have outright said "no games in 2021" and fans would have still come up with a conspiracy theory about how they didn't actually mean this year because it's not 2021 according to the Chinese calender.

Near future is a vague statement. They could've easily said no game announcements this year but they didn't. When did 8 months become near though? That's far from the right now. Not mention they plan on making bigger announcements later this year from what Maegan's been hinting at. I'm not holding my breath but an announcement by the end of the year is definitely not ruled out.

Fans always try and read between the lines to help with their theories and then throw a child’s tantrum when that doesn’t happen. Even after being told outright what to expect.

I don’t know how clearer they could’ve been.
