I wonder if the war for Tomb Raider is still happening...

If any offer had been very tempting.. I think they would have closed an agreement. I think that not having news about this is worrying.

I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing I've heard of these type of bidding wars going for six to nine months.

I do wish we had indication about who the front runners are though. Ultimately the rights have to go to someone but it can come down to lots of different factors like the studios vision, it is not always the highest bidder in these situations and then even at that the deal will probably have to be handled by entertainment lawyers and contracts and production deals drawn up.

I don't think we should panic just yet, maybe if we haven't heard anything by new year we could probably guess that the film rights just reverted back to Embracer.

The rights have already reverted back to Embracer.

I meant the stake in the GK Film rights. If Graham King loses his share then they'll be solely owned by the game company again like what happened with Paramount and Warner Bros in 2008 and so as a result of that would need licensed or sold to another film company again.

Graham King was very interested in doing another movie. I don't think he will give up losing the rights. Only if there is no interesting offer.

Haven't the movie rights already reverted back to Crystal Dynamics? I might be remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure they confirmed as much.

They have indeed.

So I'm confused. The article in The Wrap, linked to in the OP, suggests that GK Films are still attached and that they're the ones overseeing the so-called bidding war. So the film rights go back to CD and GK Films?

Although the bidding war seems to have come to nothing so far.

The quote came direct from Crystal Dynamics at the time MGM lost the rights.
