Don't know how accurate this tweet is but if Warners buys it they'll just re-attach Alicia.

Honestly... I could see Paramount reaching out to ANGELINA JOLIE and asking if she wants to do a third because she might be more open to it now.

Shivers down my spine of Netflix buying this and turning it into a crap TV Show.

Oh god, please don't. I'd really take Angelina Jolie at this point in a Paramount sequel over a Netflix series. And I don't want Hayley Atwell. Just as how Bond was British casted I like the idea of an Oscar Winner playing Lara. It heightens the prestige that separates it from a RAMPAGE or RESIDENT EVIL.

Edit: Paramount had really great success with the Original 2 and recently with SONIC so they could be the frontrunners. Make the movie and put it on Paramount Plus in 45 days... Pitch it to Jolie that they can give her a TOP GUN MAVERICK level of success with a sequel.

Wait, so does this mean Amazon are out too? I mean they bought MGM did they not?

In this case I think so because MGM was operating as normal within Amazon, its probably been a progress to production clause that has failed because they didn't uphold their end of the contract or lacked the finances to reach a green light.

As for those companies I wouldn't mind Paramount taking it back because atleast they seemed to care enough about the films and were willing to make it a trilogy in the past, also they've done good things with Sonic.

Universal and Legendary could make this film huge too in terms of box office appeal. Universal in particular could have the budget to make this a top tier action adventure film.

My only qualm is I don't want Angelina back, if they reboot I want someone fresh who hasnt been involved as live action Lara, and maybe a bit older than Alicia, like Hayley Atwell or Gemma Arterton.

Yeah, Angelina was great in her two movies, but if it really is a reboot then we need a new actress. I have no preferences right now. A unified Lara might still be a possibility, I'm guessing it might be what CD want.

Please for the love of God keep the parents drama out of the story this time, also I don't feel like it needs to be an origin story anymore either we are past that point with plenty of movies so it could easily start with an established Lara who just likes archaeology and raiding tombs with her motorbike and dual pistols.

Atleast if Warner Bros gets the rights they have the newly appointed Alan Horn who done great things for Disney during his reign. I'm cautiously optimistic.

That's a shame, especially for Alicia and Misha's sake. I hope whoever gets the rights doesn't sit on them for years and actually moves forward.

REALLY hoping Netflix doesn't get the rights.

The nice thing about the TOMB RAIDER rights is their historically well kept which is why MGM lost the rights. If a TOMB RAIDER project goes into development hell the rights revert back to Crystal Dynamics.

This is big news, not meaning good or bad though, but rather unexpected. Hopefully this mean a brighter future.

Some background from The Hollywood Reporter said bids started last week and has turned into a full on "Bidding War"

So whoever the winner is expect MAJOR news in the next few months on the reinvention because if you're spending that much money - you're not going to sit on the property. So it's good news or bad news. Good news is we'll get new content. Bad news is if it's a bad buyer...

The bidding war comes as studios and streamers are hungrier than ever for known IP. One source describes the situation as a “feeding frenzy.”

If Netflix wins, I can see that "make Lara a woman of colour" or similar happening
