Which Path do you choose in Angkor Wat?

When you are playing Angkor Wat do you always pick all skulls to get the hardest path or do you go the easy route without picking up all skulls?

I only discovered the hardest path in 2011... years after owning the game... since then I always choose that but I was wondering how you fellow Tomb Raiders do it. I haven't seen discussions about this.

I always go for all secrets runs in the games so that means I always take the hard path.

Easy Path

I'm collecting all secrets except for the last one, let Von Croy open the easy path and then collect the last one 😌

I only found out about the hard path a few years ago. I knew the audio was there in the game (I used to listen to the CD for the soundtrack) but I always thought it was cancelled or something. I never knew I was missing a skull.

I used to think the same till 2011! I remember I always knew there had to be way to enter the other gate since it seemed like you could enter but I never knew what I was doing wrong till one day I found all skulls and the game took me there and I was amazed. I am sure there are still areas in TRIV I still haven't explored. In fact I am currently replaying it and there were some areas I still have no idea how to get to, 20 years later.

edit: For example I never knew there was a underwater gate in Burial Chambers till yesterday, I suppose it leads to a secret pickup and even then I have no idea how to enter it so I had to complete the level and leave this behind.

I once did this out of pure luck. I thought ‘What would happen if I took the last secret after Von Croy opening the easy path gate?’. Nice glitch tbh...

It totally depends on my mood...but I feel like, more often than not, I deliberately miss the last skull so I can take the easy route.
