The only popular one I know is Hope from FFXIII and he got a lot of hate for being a crybaby.

I think vulnerable men are rare in media because of the concept of "toxic masculinity". If a fictional man behaves like reboot Lara, he will be called gay and a pussy or something. Look at how hated is Shinji Ikari from Evangelion. That said, if you lower the age, then male characters are allowed to be vulnerable. And even then look at the hate Emil from Tales of the Symphonia 2 gets. And Raiden from MGS2. And Hope in FFXIII. That said, yes, there are no male characters as annoying as reboot Lara in gaming. Now that I think about it, she's the worst character in gaming for me. The only game character I actually dislike. Which is sad, considering the coincidence of her taking the spot of a character I like a lot.

Really? Imo she's boring and she needs more salt, but there are way worse characters than her. I find LAU Lara very likeable, while Classic is too unnecessearily shady, sometimes she makes me scream internally and sometimes I hate her (in a good way).

Isn't Emil from Symphonia 2? He also got hate for being more sentimental and shy than Lloyd.

Really. To me she was boring in TR2013. In Rise she was downright reaaaally annoying. I can't remember any other game character I disliked. Maybe there is, but I'm not remembering anyone right now. I really like classic and LAU Lara, they're among the characters I most like in any media.

Ah ok, I didn`t play that one.
Getting called a crybaby is what I would expect to happen if you would transfer Reboot-Lara`s attributes to a male character.
That in mind it`s kinda odd RB Lara is the "safe" choice.

Your opinion is your opinion, but I think you are exaggerating a bit lately.
May I propose the twin-sisters from Wolfenstein YB for competition?
Or Marcus Fenix son, as most generic, boring character?

Not played YB or Gears of war (in a long time anyway) but they probably don't feel the need to speak to me like I'm a braindead idiot 24/7 at certain parts of the game.

Yeah because most good games with protagonists that are "vulnerable" have that come across in gameplay, the entire survival horror genre is this done much better rather than explotitive cutscene after cutscene of them getting the crap beat out of them.

Of the games I played. I don't like first person games and shooter games and generally don't play them.

I wouldn't say he was fragile, but Arthur from Red Dead Redemption 2 had many moments of vulnerability during his story, specially toward the end of the game. He's probably the most humanly, non toxic masculine man portrayed in a video game I've seen in a while if of all time, and that's surprising considering it came from Rockstar. Rockstar even stated they wanted to give him moments of vulnerability to combat toxic masculinity, so he's your prime example if you're looking for one.

C: Do not relegate important plot information to documents all the time, more so if in the context of the settting, the actual documents and what's revealed in them, it makes absolutely no sense for it to be discovered that way. E: Side characters should have actual well....character instead of basically vanishing from the plot until it's near their time to be killed off.

F: Do not have characters/objects clearly teleport in/out of scenes, it's lazy, looks awful and is contrived. (Such as when Lara gets knocked out at the start of Rise, where the guy is very clearly not behind her but one magiacal brief shot that doesn't show behind her for less than a second and there's a guy there.
Well said.
