it's playing the game in a TAS emulator using frame advance, slowdowns and savestates. All while recording the exact input made in an input file, called a "movie"

When replaying back the movie in the emulator, it forces the exact same inputs I pressed during the playing (which took 2+ months btw) thus playing back the exact same playback everytime.

In other words, play the game once and it'll always be played back the same way.

ANoDe beat me to it
But you explained it a lot better!

2+ months! That's a lot of dedication - but it shows in the final result

It would've taken much longer if I was busy. I basically had 2 and a half months free or so that I used to TAS TR4. So basically I worked on it full time. (I did take a 1 week break in the middle of Underneath the Sphinx).

By the way, if anyone's wondering if you could replay the TAS live in front of you in an emulator, you can. You'll have to use Bizhawk, the same BIOS I used (written in the author notes in the link in the OP), the correct game version and my movie file. You just load the game and "play movie", and you're done.
