Like others have said, I just assumed it was somewhere in the Mediterranean or Adriatic, probably not far off the coast of Italy or some other Mediterranean country like Greece, Croatia or Malta.
Boobandie makes a good point, the ship is (relatively speaking) not very deep underwater at all. 40 fathoms sounds impressive but it's actually less than 100 metres. However, that is actually deeper than a human can dive without some really advanced diving gear. Therefore Lara doing this expedition with not only no oxygen tank, but in a simple wetsuit designed for shallower waters, is actually laughable even by TR standards. The water pressure would giver her crazy compression sickness, she would have no control over holding her breath and would drown in seconds. Still, the relative shallowness of the water does imply it's quite near to land. This also supports what Fallenangel was saying about how the plane used is not really airworthy for very long distance and high altitude flights. I don't think they flew far from Italy at all. Would it be possible to identify the type of plane showed? Then find out the fuel capacity and then identify some possible locations from the maximum distance it could travel?

I think they just modelled a random aircraft and used it for travelling Last edited by Woops; 22-03-19 at 12:42. |

That's a PBY Consolidated Catalina an excellent aircraft of its type for the time used for maritime patrol/recon, air-sea rescue and anti-shipping/submarine bomber role during WW2. It ceased production in 1945 but was used long afterwards and I think there are some still flying as water bombers. I'm pretty sure I saw a Catalina along time ago at a UK airshow but it was pretty much a military only aircraft.
If the TR2 aircraft is based on any real seaplane it looks to me more like it was a Short Sunderland Flying Boat but, a big but, that was a four engine machine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Sunderland The nearest twin engine and somewhat more recent sea plane I've found that looks anything like the TR2 aircraft is the Grumman Albatross. https://www.airliners.net/photo/Unti...atross/1832772 Last edited by fallenangle; 22-03-19 at 13:08. |

According to the official Lara Croft Artbook (2003)
Rig/Maria Doria should be somewhere in the Indian Ocean. |

I bought it from a friend.
(You can probably find a copy on eBay tho, but it's supposedly rare) |
