It's already been established that Tomb Raider Legend's main theme features a variation of Ailein Duinn, but after much searching here on TRF and elsewhere online, I can't seem to find the lyrics for the installation music:
Does anyone have any idea what these lyrics might be, and what their translation is? It's one of my favourite pieces on the soundtrack and I'd love to know. Last edited by JimbobJeffers; 30-11-16 at 19:10. |

That's the main theme though, right? I thought the installation music linked above had different lyrics. Then again I don't speak the language so I wouldn't know!

No idea really... Since Ailein Duinn is in Gaelic one might assume that that song is also, or maybe it's just random vocables...

That song is different from the main theme I think, I don't speak the language at all but lyrically it sounds far too different to be the same one. Either that or it is the same song, but the lyrics are taken from a different part of the song to what we hear in the main theme.
As for "Installation", I don't know. Even if the lyrics are Celtic, the instrumental and arrangement that goes with it certainly isn't ethnic Celtic music as far as I know. It has a more Middle Eastern or African vibe to me. It's beautiful whatever it is though. ETA - I'm seeing people in the comments on YouTube saying it's Kurdish actually, random given Lara never visits The Middle East in Legend but ok. Last edited by Yeauxleaux; 04-12-16 at 00:23. |

It really sounds like Turkish in some places. I can hear and understand these:
Hele bir hatırla, Nereye varduğumi (O, remember the place, Where I've been in the end.) These lines sound very like from the Northern regions of Turkey. However, the singer also sounds like a Kurdish person. The longer notes are also sounds more like Middle Eastern, on which we can see their contemporary examples in Southeastern Turkey, where Kurdish people live the most. I really need to listen to it with headphones when I'm at home. I'm so curious about this. I'm thinking of contacting to Mr. Folmann for this ![]()

From what I know about Troels’ process for making the soundtrack, he used a custom AI program to generate vocals for the tracks. It’s most likely then that the vocals in Instillation are just random languages mashed together to create a nice melody for the track. Similar to how the Simlish language in The Sims was created by combining different languages to create something unique

"Custom AI program"? Where does this info come from? We're talking about 2005/2006 here, not today.
![]() Plus the main vocals you hear in the main theme and other tracks for example, are recordings of the "Ailein Duinn" song. Vocals (amongst other sounds) that were also used in the SimCity 4 soundtrack for instance, which was by another composer. They're taken from a common source, not AI generated. I'd assume the vocals for the installation track come from the same source. Last edited by Joey79100; 28-05-22 at 13:12. |
