There isn't a yes/no answer for this question; it depends.
Since many levels are based on Slayer's Ultimate Patch, it's possible that savegames made with those levels might not work on base game files because Slayer mixed portions of levels from many different sources.
Furthermore, savegames store some information that overrides those inside the level file so if you load a patched level from an old savegame made with an unpatched version of the same level, you'll miss some fixes.
For this reason I suggest not to use old savegames on patched levels.

And the same would happen if someone downloaded a save game made on patched levels but hasn't patched the levels themselves?

In that case you'd have three possible scenarios:
1) the game would crash
2) the level will load just fine
3) the level will load just fine + you'd experience some fixes from the patched level file.

I dont know if it's just me, but the updated textures doesn't really look right. It makes it look super sunny outside when it's not.

I had the same opinion when that was released. The OG windows looked more natural to me. The new ones look like there's no texture at all on the windows.

It's a missing feature (or flag I guess) of the texture, to make it react to the "Glow" option in the setting. The same effect is used in the Strahov. You can disable it from the settings if you are using version 49 or earlier.

You have to create one in the Game files.
Yeah it's weird but creating a Char Folder in the game files will cause the game to check it for characters first I think, I don't know why exactly it works but it works.

If there's coding left over for eye movements in cutscene, could this be re enabled?

I was wondering if anyone else ran into this issue when trying to enable the PS2 heat haze fix. I replaced the heatEMBM.tga in the effects folder but now everything is transparent whenever the heat haze is used.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
