That sense of height in the first part of Floating Islands is genuine and very well done.
Knowing that if you make a jumping/grab mistake at any point it is going to be fatal adds to the tension. I can well believe that those more sensitive to height triggers than others could have a real physical reaction to it. Imagine doing it using first person VR - it could even cause a panic attack. That eel I always forget about and even re-doing it recently, no scratch, I had actually forgotten again but, amazingly, I got away with it.
It certainly made my heart pump a little harder when it made the grab for LC and I love the fact it can still do that. The odd jump scare is just the sort of unexpected thing that makes me enjoy a level even more and that case is no exception. |

Lol, yes that eel can make you near jump out of your skin if you aren't paying attention.

I beat TR2 on PlayStation when I was young, and years later I replayed it on PC and the eel literally made me jump out of my seat and scream. I had zero recollection of the giant eel in my original playthrough, was it only in the PC version?

I don't hate the water levels, but they drag out for far too long. They're very atmospheric tho
Venice levels are the best balance-wise and Barkhang Monastery and Temple of Xian are the best ones |

Temple of Xian
Temple of Xian is the quintessential Tomb Raider experience.
The best level in Tomb Raider II and arguably the best single level in the original series (though I prefer Crash Site and Highland Fling, and the whole Alexandria hub of interconnected levels in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation forms a superior experience). |
