It's probably 720p because some of their first party titles only run at 720p although you wouldn't notice it.

Alrighty, for those that think that 1080p is a must have for the Switch in portable mode. Think about this, with the current Switch model:
 • Super Mario Odyssey - runs at 900p/60 docked, it runs at 720p/60 in portable mode however it cuts back on detail, shadows and halves the horizontal resolution.
 • Breath of the Wild - runs 900p/30 docked with dips in both when stuff gets hectic and runs 720p/30 portable and again, both dip when stuff gets hectic.
 • Xenoblade 2 - runs at 720p/30 docked, portable it runs anywhere between 552p all the way down to nearly 360p with frame drops throughout.
 • Bowser's Fury - runs at 720p/60fps docked, but it runs 720p/30 in portable mode. And this game launched last week!

And that's Nintendo their own stuff, that's ignoring what third party devs have to deal with with games like DOOM (Eternal), Wolfenstein, Crash Bandicoot, Dragon Quest XI, Mortal Kombat and many more. Locking the portable resolution to 720p with a stable (preferably locked) frame rate is a much better option. Aiming for the sun (1080p) and falling all the way down because the system simply can not handle the resolution in portable mode and ending with the same non native resolutions would be a waste of resources available.

In before people mention that the average €/$1300 Android or iPhone has an amazing resolution. Those in fact do not render their app at that native resolution and a ton is upscaled as well. But that's probably going to fall on deaf ears...

Only 2 iPhones which were priced similarly had crappy resolutions and they were the XR/11 being in 828p and both would have been around $1300

There are more and more rumours about a Nintendo Switch Pro.

https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/...d-release-date

If this is true, it could be really awesome! Ironically Digital Foundry made a video about the possibility of a beefier Switch using DLSS over a year ago.

This technology would be a real game changer and could give the Switch an edge over the other consoles. It could have good looking games with a smooth frame rate for years to come.

I just bought a Switch, Zelda and Super Mario Odyssey. Not like I needed another gaming console or more games to not play...although I know I'll actually play these. (Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, laptop, if you can count that, I've only played The Sims 4 on it for about 4 hours total in the last 3 years). Woooo! More crap/clutter.

Nintendo sues Bowser! Turns out a prominent Switch hacker really has the surname Bowser which is just so ironic, and iconic

It should be common practice to not work with violent and organised criminal groups; a policy needn't be necessary. Still, having a policy is better than having it happen.
