Too bad the problem is not from the writers but from CD not letting the writers do their job properly.

Case in point: Rhianna Pratchett writing a Lara Croft with a more interesting personality in the reboot games, where she admitted in interviews was given much more of a free range. And her stating also in interviews the daddy plot from RotTR was forced to be included by CD, when it is a plot thread that doesn't even affect gameplay at all.

It's several interviews, and I would need to look up for some in specific. But if you Google "Rhianna Pratchett Tomb Raider interview" you can find many detailing what exactly is her job. And basically is mostly writing the story the studio wants, in the tone they want, and not really to give their own take of what the story should be.

This one from the Mary Sue tackles a bit of that. She even tells she wanted to add a bit more humor to the games (like she did with the comics) but didn't because it wasn't what CD wanted.

Hmm interesting, thanks.

I wonder what's behind that. Why do CD care?

In the end, it's still they're game and it should be what they want it to be. If it's the best decision to do, that's up to debate.

But my opinion is that they perhaps should give more thoughts into their writers opinions and ideas, especially in plot points that don't necessarily affect gameplay.
