Default Oprah for president??

In the news there's a bit of a buzz around Oprah after last night's Golden Globe awards.

I'll link the BBC but I've seen it on other sites too.

Oprah Winfrey - does speech provide clues about presidential run?

What does everyone think?

-Should Oprah run for president?
-Would she be better or worse (or same) as Trump? And why do you think that way.
-Do you think she would she win if she ran?
-What impact would she be likely to have?

I think it could be interesting to see someone like her as president. With her emphasis on loving yourself and each other.......... it's got to be the first time someone who places a high importance on emotional intelligence became president if she did win. Of course, that could all be PR nonsense but I don't think it is.

I've got to say, just from an "experiment" point of view I'd quite like to see this happen.

I just laughed out loud and thought Of course it’ll be Oprah to be our first woman president.

I’d vote for her, though. I don’t know if she’s got all the know how it takes to be president but she can’t be any worse than what we have now

I'll reserve judgement until the entire 2020 candidate field has been formed. If anything, this current administration has demonstrated a need to have someone who knows how to govern, I'm not inclined to see another entertainer as President, though if she did get the nomination, I could at least sleep well know she wouldn't blow us to hell with an angry tweet.

Could we like, not have celebrities in the White House and people who are actually qualified for this? It's just an idea.

In theory, yes, but she'd be just as un/qualified as Trump, though at least she'd actually be respectful, well composed and well spoken. I think she'd be better off being mayor somewhere as a test run.

Maybe. Honestly, I don't know much about her, or how good she'd be as president, but she can't be THAT bad.

Absolutely not. Just because she'd probably be less damaging than Trump doesn't make her qualified for the job. If celebrities want to run for president, they should at least try their hand at lower office (like Reagan did).

Why the hell not, she cant be worse than most so called politicans.
At this point in america you dont need to have any political background to run.

She has a smart head on her shoulders, but if that is enough in 2020...who knows.

I know next to nothing about Oprah Winfrey but I heard that one time she interviewed a woman who had been in an accident or an attack of some kind and miraculously survived albeit horribly mutilated. Oprah Winfrey's comment was: 'this is the work of god, even an atheist must admit that.'

In other words: no.
