It's also currently 90% off at the Epic Games store ( 1,29 where I live)

Yeah, it's 1.13 on steam. Purchased it today.
Had it on the 360 when it came out but gave it away a few years later.
I'll enjoy playing it again.

There's an interesting video that was put out recently explaining the development of the game from the original open world version to the final version we got

One of my absolute favorites.
If anyone hasn't had the opportunity to play this and has Game Pass, I highly recommend it. Especially if you like Stephen King stuff.

I've scrolled through a few gameplay videos and it seems to be quite shooter-y. Is that a misconception, or is it modtly based on shooting?

It's a shooter. Outside of shooter, it's the general exposition Remedy does where you walk around and plot happens around you and you have bare bones interaction with it outside of literally walking from point A to point B that's been in every game since Max Payne.

Come to think of it, all of Remedy's games are more or less the same.

It is.. but I'd say the story and atmosphere totally make up for it.
It still has quitea survival horror vibe - you can run out of ammo etc if you aren't careful.

I really want a sequel already.. its been too long!!!
(and no American Nightmare doesn't count - now that WAS an all out shooter)

I bought it a few days ago on Steam as well. I used to own it on my 360, but like noonbob I gave it away.

Hear, hear!

When I saw the recent gameplay released by Unreal for PS5. One of the first things I thought of was the Alan Wake flashlight mechanic with real-time global illumation.
