You can actually smash the containers for the rolling bug things in Bio-dome, which will kill them.

Since those bugs normally never escape anyway though (The ones you fight spawn from the vents at the left/right of the room.) you're not saving ammo or anything by doing this.

When you enter the main part of Le Serpent Rouge, if you hide behind the boxes near the bar and wait awhile, one of the guards will run to the door and leave temporarily. Also you can hideout behind the bar. Eventually a guard will stand right in front and you can crawl right in front of him-- he won't even notice.

It actually make sens to have some bug fixed, they reworked the game to make it easier so I guess they fixed some minor things they found while doing this.
The bars in the Kurtis level might be to make the game easier ? Less chances to fall ? Anyway it's interesting.

Are those sunglasses on the PAL version?
Also this possibly means some Japanese porting team had the ability to edit AOD.

Yes they always had this ability because they had to make the games easier for the japanese market.

Okay, that really makes sense. They probably added those extra bars because of that :O

Lara actually picks up different amounts of ammo on PS2 for certain weapons.

While I don't if the Shotgun is any different (Which gives 6! full reloads on PC, since Core probably wanted Lara to insert the 6 shells one at a time but never fixed it.), the Taser gives more than 10 shots per pick-up but I don't know the actual amount, while the Dart gun now gets 9 Darts per its only avaliable pick-up compared to the PC's 3.

EDIT: IT also seems the Dart gun has bugged ammo, I finally equipped it again at The Dig site and I had over 20! Darts somehow, either it increases after certain levels somehow or we somehow get ammo for it by picking up other ammo types.
