Hey, y'all - just a bit of archaeological input here:

Both the image from TR1 and from SotTR are depictions of Mesoamerican calendars.

This is the Aztec Calendar Stone, or Sun Stone, on display in the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City: HERE

And this is an image of the Mayan Calendar (just a random Google Image search): HERE

Also, fun fact about the TR1 image: If you play the updated iOS/mobile version of Tomb Raider 1, they've changed the image to something Incan in design, because the Mesoamerican calendar would never be found in Vilcabamba, Peru, where Lara's adventure starts. Thus, to answer the question of "is this in Mexico or Peru in SotTR," the answer is definitely Mexico.

(You can also see that, in the SotTR image, the outer ring of the calendar wheel has Mayan glyphs, whereas the TR1 image has smaller, probably Aztec glyphs.)

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I had been wondering if it was accurate to Peru in TR1, it did look "off" to me but I wasn't sure.

I didn't know she went to Tiwinaku in TR1. Wasn't that Legend?

That was super interesting. As someone who has NO IDEA about all this, I appreciate your post.

Wow I had a feeling this was going to happen, it is awesome.

Last time I replayed TR1 (with Shadow already announced) and I saw that Aztec calendar inside the peruvian ruin I had a feeling this could inspire future games. The calendar room is one of my favorite secret rooms ever from the classics.

Shadow appears to be inspired by the classics, unlike Rise & Reboot.

Something about seemed so familiar to me but I just assumed it was because of Underworld.

Idk if it's a nod or just really coincidental, but I'd say she's in Mexico, the culture is just similar
