Default God of War

I have gone back 5 pages and yet to find a thread on this so thought I'd make a new one. Anyone excited for the new release? The 2013 Tomb Raider Creative Director, who left after 4 months, went on to work on God of War and was responsible for the new no cuts/one take camera. The game so far has recieved critical acclaim.

Wasn’t a fan of what I saw. I’ll let others enjoy it.

Just replayed the last six games back in December to prepare. I was skeptical (and intrigued) by this new direction, but after seeing the review scores I am HYPED.

Never played any of the other ones. I might try this one. Looks decent. I really like some games' cinematic quality. Gameplay looks...meh - a button masher than anything else. Won't know for sure until I play it if I do. Not surprised with Metactritic's score and the other scores/reviews. Since Horizon Zero Dawn's spotlight was last year, a new game or games can take it.

Going to be my first one in the series and looking forward to it.

Is it going to be "one take" like with the movie Birdman, where they pause on a certain frame so the transition to another actual take can be done "seemlessly"? I can't imagine it's all done in one take in real time. *But I've not heard that it is or not, just assuming*

Considering how God of War is, I would not be surprised if it is one take.

It's always been very cinematic, with the camera following Kratos swinging around all those giant creatures.

It's a cool thing to try and do, but I can't help but wonder if anyone will even notice this.

The single camera take method of playing and cinematic Im really interested in. Gameplay could be fine if it looks fun. Needs to be fun to play. Visuals look reaaallllyy good, perhaps better than Horizon Zero Dawn, which is an astonishingly beautiful game. Could be it's more realistic in its artstyle that makes it stand out.

There probably is a God of War thread, but the search engine won't look for "god" "of" "war" because all of those words are too short.

I'm hyped. I wasn't interested in a new game because I liked how the 3 ended, but there's been such a dearth of 3rd person action adventure lately, and the production quality is always very high on GOW games.

I'm not as stoked about the over the shoulder camera. Part of my enjoyment is watching my character's animations--particularly while fighting, but it's GOW.

Agreed with the camera part. I wouldn't have minded the over the shoulder camera if it was a shooter. But it isn't. The game also reminds me of The Last Of Us, which I strongly dislike.
