Sometimes it depends on how I feel that day I replay the game. Do I want to do the hard way or rather go the easy one? But I've sometimes done it like TR1249 suggested, let Von Croy open the easy path and then take the last secret. The first time I played the game, I took the easy path, I think. It's a long Time ago. In the Year 2001, I think.

I do both just for a change in scenery. Also I sometimes lose Senet intentionally for the same reason

I never finished the hard route. My original copy of TR4 had an issue where the hard route would crash when going over a bridge. Completely forgot about it in recent years.
