Classic/TR2 tools
Hello there. Sorry if it's not the good place to ask.
I'm new to the modding community and I was wondering about all the available modding tools and tutorials. So far I just tried the Tbuilder to extract the textures. I was wondering if it was possible to create/modify some custom 3D models (weapons/characters) aswell ? |

Now you need a nifty tool named Trviewer. It lists all a levels objects, and allows you to import and export to 3ds format. You can also export things in trviewer default format to reimport across different level files. Such as changing meshes etc
Sadly trviewer can be a bit dicky. For example, if you edit and save a TR2 level file, trapdoors dissapear from the map (?), in some other level files crucial elements can become corrupt. I'd recommend making multiple backups as you tinker |

You need to learn a 3D modeling tool, either 3D metasequoia (you have to buy this tool) or use other such 3D tools, like 3D max. I modify the meshes using DXF files.
I use Pixstr (a free TR tool) to transfer DXF files (mesh files) exporting and importing into a Tomb Raider level (could be for TR1 to TR5). I use 3D meta to modify the DXF meshes, I also use TRtexture (a free TR tool) to modify textures, although there is other texture tools available, but TRtexture is a fast way to texture. Yes, Its great fun being able to modify TR models in 3D Here is my latest video in the TR2 Dragons lair with modified meshes... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0vg3_DbDl0 Last edited by perryloo; 26-04-23 at 12:21. |
