Yeah SW fanbase as whole is really annoying. When JFO was coming some were just bashing it for not being like Jedi Knight game. Some even bashed it for not being a RPG like Kotor.
IMO those really don't work.

Just throwing in some basic swimming in Rise doesn't magically bring back all of the magic swimming had in the older games and even if they did, they'd still be stapled onto everything else that I didn't enjoy.

As whole Shadow added more classic features compare to Rise.

-Booby traps
-Fully underwater swimming with limited Oxygen.
-Focus on exploration over combat.
-More tombs and also mini tombs known as crypts.
-Ability to remove the white paints.
-Some puzzles.(Don't remember if Rise had any puzzles)

So I hope EM makes the next one completely without the help of Crystal Dynamic.

Exactly Rise doesn't really count for swimming since you don't really do any underwater exploration. Shadow gas swimming back in some capacity, but it definitely needed to be fleshed out more.

Booby traps that weren't really traps at all since they were all avoided with a rope cut.

With multiple air pockets to where it was impossible for you to run out of oxygen.

That are also the same single chamber, rope mechanic that was in 2013 and Rise. Although bigger, it's still the same thing.

That's a start somewhere

Few and far between

Not really.
-Cut the rope booby traps.
-A wind that can throw you off.
-Fire that comes from walls.
-Piranhas were also like booby traps.
-Spikes that you have to avoid during sliding.
-Some blades that you have to jump from them. Or dashing under them or moving in the right moment.
-Some sections that fall when you walk over hem.
-Spikes that come out from the ground.
-Poisonous gas that can kill you.

You can't avoid them with just a rope cut minus the first ones.

The booby traps in Shadow is far better than booby traps in LAU trilogy. So Shadow imo is a step in the right direction.

Shadow is a step in the right direction but not the right thing in this aspect. I'm glad they decided to focus on this in Shadow, but it's still very safe. I feel like those traps were not enough. I barely remember the gas, wind and fire ones apart from one or two particular sections, and rolling blades were not that dangerous except in a tomb I don't remember and the Grand Caiman section.

Spikes were not a problem apart from the Nightmare and a bit in San Juan. They really need to improve them, let the environment be unpredictable, definetely more lethal and less forgiving; and, of course, include the good traps and puzzles in the main game and not only on DLCs lol. I want the fans that only have played the Reboot to feel Tomb Raider and danger like we did in the past, they won't appreciate it if CD won't show them.

I think this is a constructive discussion, this last one. Saying what they should improve from Shadow. Especially now that the origins trilogy is over. They now can differ more from the last game than they could while they still were in the origins trilogy.

And I agree, they must go all-in with traps in the next installment, be bold with them.

For the first time in the reboot I thought they did a really decent job with the traps in Shadow especially in the DLC's. The same for swimming which I enjoyed. There has undoubtedly been progress in gameplay as well as it bringing in more classic stuff. On Lara herself they are still pretty much nowhere, barely better than the second half of 2013. That is the bit of TR that desperately needs fixing.
