Mirrors edge is a game tomb raider should really be looking at, it encapsulates the core spirit of the originals game play. Take that but do it in third person instead of first person and it would benefit the series greatly.

1 The way you have to line up jumps to succeed
2 The way you have to build momentum with a run up
3 The way they incorporate rolling into platforming instead of combat
4 The way they use turning 180 on the spot into level design
5 The way you are in total control of their movements instead of automation
6 The way that platforming is vertical/dangerous and one move can result in instant death.

It's basically all the precision and challenge of the old grid system in the classics but actually updated to modern analogue control standards.

So sweet - thanks a lot.
I'm gladly taking a stand for SotTR and its quality. Me vs. haters.
Let's spread some love for reboot-Lara and stay positive.

I adored the first one. Haven't tried ME2 though

The Last of Us.

-The slowness and carefulness of the gameplay - in places. Obviously TR needs a bit of oomph in places too.

-The sense of threat from the enemies. You know when you see a group of clickers and you crouch and stop for a bit thinking through options whilst feeling really really tense. Enemies that makes you look always around corners wondering if something is hidden in there. The Yaaxil were quite good at that.

-A story that lasts over a period of more than a few days. Where relationships can develop properly.

I would love big tombs filled with puzzles like classic Zelda games' dungeons.

I adored Mirror's Edge and Catalyst. I'm actually ok with them taking from that series. Lara's physics and movest should be close to Faith's. I think if there were momentum physics added the game would be a lot better.

Tomb Raider should be its own thing and stop trying to copy other games. The original were all about exploration, 3D space awareness, and navigating dangerous spaces using platforming abilities. Those components are mostly missing from modern AAA games, including the modern Tomb Raiders.

but TR was what Mirror's is. You had to line up jumps and gain momentum.
