"The Cistern" or what people call the challenge tombs soundtrack was pure masterpiece and deserves hell lot of appreciation. It was something that makes Rise shine. In shadow there was mostly awkward blank silence in the tombs with sound effects here and there...

Not really. Shadow’s subtle music worked great given the spookiness of the tombs. It also has the best sound design of the trilogy.

In most of the tombs too the music would start of subtle then crescendo louder too. I loved Shadows music, the drums, the heart beating in some of it. It really did bring Shadow to life.

Now the TOWER BATTLE IN RISE!!!! That music was beyond epic!!!

INSPIRATION OR COINCIDENCE?

I don't know if Crystal Dynamics were inspired by the FMV cutscenes from Tomb Raider 4 when they were creating a cinematic introduction to the level in Syria, but I like to think that they were and the similarities of individual shots are a subtle reference to the classic TR. Every time I watch this Rise of the Tomb Raider moment, The Last Revelation comes to my mind.

Comparison shots made by myself.

That TR4 FMV was the first thing that came to mind when I watched that scene for the first time. I think it's inspiration.
