Could it be Sanctuary of the Scion?

If you had a key in the beginning you could just go to the Scion right away and basically skip most of the level.

Assuming we are really speaking about water levels and not a different level in the game that is being altered by that lever, this could as well refer to the room with the really big statues.

Larson dies and we don't know if it is his first or his second death, right?

You got it!

Actually, pulling the lever not only drains half of the big statue room beneath the Sphinx, but dumps the drained water in the City of Khamoon - that's why that level is flooded in Return to Egypt.

Whaaat, I never knew that about the water, that's actually really cool!

Ok, here's the new clues:

1.
To go up, you must go down.
2. Well I guess this is gonna hurt then ...
3. Look out for some hot dudes here!

I don't even have a guess (yet?) just want to say this thread is fun and informative Wish I knew TR1 and it's gold like that but noticing things like that will be fascinating when I finally play TR gold

Beautiful screens, Craig ♡
For Temple Ruins, I always figured they tried to avoid complete accuracy if the religion is still widespread

Btw jvry was that your guess? Lol

Sounds like the end of the RX Tech Mines - LC swims down to the bathyscaphe and then down to the pull out place before the long swim up which always drains her health to the minimum. Hot dudes = flame-thrower guys? But only one in that Tinnos entrance area so probably not.

If it is not them somewhere else in the RX Tech Mines - the top(?) mine-cart route, with the mutant and flame thrower guy and snappy doors where you do the hanging drop down which always causes some HP loss. Then a long way down again where another mutant and flame thrower guy awaits right at the bottom near the pool.

Could it be Coastal Village?

I'm thinking of the routes to the village itself, to get up into the temple you need to go down into the cave. And hey, those shirtless guys are ripped . . . despite wearing skull masks, which isn't too hot.
