I'm conflicted about Ascension, honestly.

It was shaping up to be a minimalist, contemplative interpretation of the Tomb Raider concept, which I'm definitely a fan of - and I think many others would have been, too.

People loved LCGO, after all. It's often considered the apex of TR atmosphere, neck-and-neck with TR1, because it was designed on the same principles.

There is (or would've been) a significant difference in tone and complexity between LCGO and Ascension, obviously, but the point is that both of these games are fairly far removed from the rest of the TR franchise.

At the same time, though, it looked overly derivative of Team Ico's work from several years earlier - and I don't think it would've been particularly endearing to the people who don't even consider TR2013 to be a Tomb Raider game.

I'm never in favor of kowtowing to obstinate fanboys, but still, I don't think a remake of Shadow of the Colossus, with Lara Croft as the protagonist, would've reflected well on CD in the public eye, either.

Nope it was the right decision. Having a horse isn't what would make it better! Having a monkey always stick to your back is intriguing though!
