In terms of looks I guess it's subjective. I'm guessing they're going to cast for star power too. Maybe age wise and fame wise someone like Hailee Steinfeld could work.

^She's American right? Let's not have another failure like Angelina Jolie please.

I think it's important to remember that looks aren't the only thing that matters. Being able to pull of this part in terms of acting is just as important in bringing a believable character to life on the silver screen.
We're never gonna find an actress that looks exactly like reboot Lara anyway, because let's face it; between TR2013, the DE and ROTTR, not to mention all the secondary appearances (comic books, book covers, renders and game trailers) there is hardly one consistent look. Even if there had been it would still be hard to find one actress that would have looked exactly like that and who also had the acting skills and starpower.
I want a proper actress that can pull this off, not some girl who looks somewhat similar to one of the many iterations of reboot Lara, but who can't act the part. So yeah.

I don't think it necessarily matters if an American is chosen as long as they can do the accent Hailee can and she has clout at the box office and acting ability including an Oscar nomination.

Another younger actress is Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones, soon to be seen as Jean Grey in X-Men, again not the conventional Lara-Look but with contacts and hair dye she could maybe pull it off. Fun fact is that she also trained in archery recently!

I kinda LOL'ed just now...

Because Im 100% Sure that we discussed Hailee as a potential candidate a couple of years ago; joking about how she was a child at that time, but shed be a grown woman by the time they actually got the ball rolling on this project... and now here we are...

We probably did, I know Saorise Ronan and Chloe Moretz were discussed and they've also grown up enough now to be considered. The days of Olivia Wilde are obsolete!

I guess Olivia Wilde was only really considered as Lara in a film that was a reboot of the film series rather than something that was supposed to tie in with the games. I guess peple got the idea she would make a perfect fit due to looking like an attractive younger version of Angelina. There are some slight similarities there although, unlike Anglina, who's not even remotely attractive Olivia Wilde happens to be fairly attractive.
With the news that this film was supposed to tie in with the rebooted universe Olivia was sort of out of the picture I think. Too old and no resemblance to reboot Lara whatsoever.

They will probably go left field and surprise us all with who they pick. I know when the first film was made the suggestions were for Sandra Bullock, Catherine Zita Jones and even Pamela Anderson. Nobody really mentioned Angelina Jolie for the part.

The funny thing is all of those would have made better Laras than Angelina. Even Pamela Anderson.

But I bet you're right. They are gonna surprise us all. Let's just hope it's a good surprise unlike last time.

So in terms of other possible casting Ingrid Bolsų Berdal has been in the majority of Roar Uthaug's movies and co-incidentally her biggest roles with a Hollywood audience have been made by MGM. Could we see her as Ana?

I could see her as Sam. Or come to think of it I think she'd make an awesome Reyes.
