Good catch. About 90% as attractive as Robbie in the right makeup, too. Probably, yeah. |

Some of The Crown ladies could be good contenders, Vanessa Kirby has been getting acclaim in most of her roles and was a real breakout star from that show.
I think here are other actresses that could play the part too though, going through the Netflix roladex there's also a few girls from Brigerton who probably fit the bill namely Phoebe Dynevor, Claudia Jesse or Harriet Cains who will probably have advanced their career by the time this new reboot hits.

You can't go from Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander (two Oscar winners) to... Phoebe Dynevor LOL I only demand an actress of prestige and with a certain resemblance. Last edited by PinkyPromise; 13-08-22 at 22:34. |

Basically the best thing about this poster is the colors. They tried to make her look too tough and not sexy. She's way prettier than that in the movie and in everything else she's done. I really enjoyed her in her new HBO show. I have to still finish it, but her catsuit work was jaw dropping. Irma Vep I believe it was.

I think the point people are missing (myself included) is the fact that age probably comes into it if they want this to be a multi film franchise.
They may not be A-List now but by the time the rights are bought and the film gets made their careers may have advanced and they'd be around the right look. We are talking maybe the three to five year range starting from scratch. Vanessa Kirby is staying booked and getting recognition as is Phoebe Dynevor, when they first announced the Tomb Raider back in 2011 nobody would have expected Alicia would be cast because she was relatively unknown until Ex Machina and The Danish Girl, she still isn't a huge cinematic actress her projects are usually a lot smaller and supporting roles. Then point is she probably wasn't even in GK's eye until she got nominated. I expect these actresses to go on to advance in their field. We should maybe be looking more towards actresses around the 16-25 range who are showing promise. My preference is Alicia but if this doesn't progress quickly then they might not want her to stick around when she is edging forty, it's a horrible fact but when it comes to franchise films like this females get a raw and ageist deal.

Exact. It's a bit absurd now to think about casting when the project doesn't even have a production company.
Alicia Vikander won the Oscar just the year before she started casting TR and she was the perfect choice: talented, Oscar winner, European and she was out of franchises. Now a they have to choose new company, choose a screenwriter, write a script, choose a director... when everything is lined up, a new actress may win an Oscar and she be the new it girl. I don't think they take less than 3 years minimum. The only way this will move forward fast is if Amazon buys and they reactivate Misha and Alicia's script. possible options If buys Netflix we will have reboot If buys WB we could have Alicia but Misha's script belongs to MGM so they should write a new one. It could be delayed. We have reboot. If Amazon buys they could continue with the MGM project (Misha script and Alicia) Last edited by PinkyPromise; 14-08-22 at 12:56. |

I don't think it's necessary for the actress to have an Oscar. I do think whoever they choose needs an established career. Let's face it neither Tomb Raider nor any video game movie are likely to be Oscar contenders or require Oscar worthy performances. What they need as well as talent, is experience and dedication, someone who's likely to give 100% to the action scenes and commit to the training. Both Alicia and Angelina did that. They both understood the assignment, as the saying goes.

Same. I'm so bummed I won't get to see her as classic Lara or even Shadow/Rise Lara. Really sucks. Stupid Covid had to ruin every. We'd probably be discussing the 3rd movie right now if Covid hadn't happened.

Exactly. I am sure that this would have been the case. They did set up the first movie for a sequel. I am genuinely saddened by the turn of events. It's not fair..
