The problem is the way the original game handles music tracks. That's why the fix plays the lower quality sound effect from the level files. It would take some more audio rewriting to play the higher quality track without breaking music tracks.

Hey guys! Does tomb1main and ATI require anything extra? (Redistributes even).

I'm running a pretty crappy notebook, that I've never had any form of TR1 on before. Zero issues playing customs with TR2main etc..

I tried to download a custom level series yesterday that is nicely bundled with tomb1main, intrigued to try it out for the first time for its features too but sadly "program is not responding" as a result.
I tried a few compatability fixes and whatnot, but no luck. I even tried a slightly older TR1 custom only packaged with ATI and I get the same result.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I see. Well, that's ok, at least one can turn the fix off and get rid of the issue that way.

There is another thing i noticed while replaying TR1 lately with Tomb1Main i found far more annoying actually. Since this occurs in all versions of Tomb Raider 1, it isn't specific to Tomb1Main but i was hoping it could maybe be fixed in there. Whenever you load a save, it re-activates all the music triggers in the level, leading to music tracks being played again as you leave an area, when they were only supposed to be played once, when you entered. I find this bug to be pretty annoying because there a lot of situations where you enter a room, music plays, you save before the challenge, then reload a couple of times and then get the same song again as you leave the room... kinda ruins the atmosphere for me whenever that happens. I'm surely not the only one that is annoyed by this quirk of the engine.
So i'm wondering whether this behaviour could be "fixed" in Tomb1Main? Would that require a major rewrite of the code?

It's a known issue that's a work in progress.

Depending on how crappy it is, it might not be able to run. TombATI and Tomb1Main use OpenGL. It shouldn't hang if you can't run it though. There should be an error message or it just crashes back to desktop. You can check `Tomb1Main.log` for some debug info and paste it here.

Well, I'm not surprised. This has probably been talked about on the forum many times. I'm new here, so i don't know what is what yet. But good to know that we might see a fix at some point in the future. Cheers!

What I meant by crappy I guess is, it's not a gaming laptop at all to modern standards, it can only run the classic TR games so far that I've tried I didnt think of opengl! I'll investigate the log file (I must have missed it) and see what it says. The window either flashes open very fast and closes, or I get the generic windows "program is not responding" error. Anyway, thankyou! I will investigate.

Check if you can run TombATI. If you can run that, you should be able to run Tomb1Main.

Alright so- just tried three different customs with the following following results for each.
