I don't even watch Melonie. My own experiences are just from Twitter comments or reddit ones, and articles like this that gain attention.

And no I know that people that prefer "sexier" females in video games are a massive majority and that the "woke" people are a tiny minority, but they are still pretty vocal.

So when a bunch of people come together and see something they don't like, and they start saying "yikes" or "do better" because they are absolutely convinced that they are morally right and have the right of it and everyone who disagrees with them is a sexist bastard, you know something is wrong, moreso because companies and devs for some reason like to listen to said people.

This not only applies to the outrage, but also to the excitement. Fans are so desperate for any breadcrumbs that they're already hopping up and down about this statue because it might be what unified Lara will look like. They're coloring the image and already turning it into avatars.

Give it a few months when new stuff comes out and everyone will agree the statue is indeed bland and boring. It's the same with Reboot Lara's fringe and mullet - when that was first ever revealed in the leadup to TR2013 desperate people thought it looked great. Now everyone, including most Reboot stans, admit it's one of the ugliest design choices Lara's character has ever had.
