I've thought about it, and I've decided that I will not be allowing people to request specific art styles (themes). You may build with the art style that is specified in your package. (The "art style" includes texture quality, sounds, and Lara model. You still may use any other effects that the engine you choose allows.)

You still may use any engine you wish to build your level.

It negates the purpose of the challenge to let people request special accommodations.

for sure... As I said.. with TR1 Main and TR2 main. you can use even NG textures so it is no problem.
Unless you'll receive a rule: Use rope

but I thought you made it clear from the beginning.
You will receive a theme and textures and some objects. you need to stick to it and use it.. you can choose the engine but the theme is selected by you..

Also, I wanted to ask you.
The wad file you will receive. Will you include enemies and traps?
Some people want to choose an engine but that would be hard if you will have a scorpion for example.

Or the basic wad will have statics?

I personally have no problem using any engine except TEN
so if I will receive a specific enemy I will probably stick to the engine.

The wad will just be a selection of statics that you will copy into the wad you will make for the level.

Maybe I'm the only one who didn't understand properly, I don't know... but knowing Danath for example, I think both of us meant TR1, 2 and 3 ENGINES, mostly a package that is actually suitable for those engines - as Sabatu said, yes, you can use HD textures even with old engines, but when it comes to movesets, gameplay elements etc. of course it becomes impossible (however, if the "themes" are now ONLY about textures sounds and model, it is at least possible, I'm just not sure if a NG Lara model can work in old engines).

So, for example, if I would get a TR4/NG theme, I could only make an hybrid since I have close to 0 understanding about TR4/TEN/whatever and I got no time personally to try and learn it from scratch (yes, I also understand going out of your confort zone is one of the keys here, I agree but I just can't go as far as learning a new engine for the time being). Even sounds are a bit difficult to change, at least on a large scale... (I think)

Based on what I understood about the rules at the start, my idea was basically: I get to "choose" TR1, 2 or 3 themes so I can work with them in their original engines, with whatever texture/art/limitations I get but still FOR AND COMPATIBLE WITH said engine. Reading again I definitely think there was a misunderstanding from my part, I guess I will opt out of the challenge in that case Good luck everyone

With the recent increased limits of those games I'm sure you can have a "Soft NG" look even in the oldest engines

I will reiterate again.

The theme is only constricting the Lara model, the sounds, and the texture quality.

So if you get TR2, think like Delca's Fantome. For TR3, think the new Jungle level by Calypsis.

You may use whatever engine or other tools you wish to build your level.

If you have never used TE or TEN and you don't have time to learn, it would be understandable to drop out.

@Pedro: There will be a small selection of statics and textures that you MUST use, but you may use any other textures or objects you want providing that what is provided is used.
