^i feel the same about that. If Trinity and the whole parental drama hadnít been reintroduced, for reasons which still elude me, in Rise then then base story of Shadow would still work. In fact, had Amaru just been the head of a small cult in Paititi instead of having to weave in Trinity and explaining the murder or Richard and Ana then it would all have been much more succinct and would probably have flowed much better.

Imo in Shadow they put the parent story right in some ways. Certainly by giving us the young Lara segment to play out they gave the storyline some much needed pathos instead of the usual detachment I have in the "emotional" moments.

When I saw Lara find her father dead for once I actually felt a bit sad and I got what they were saying about Lara's character for a change. About how this awful weight had been placed on such a young child.

There was none of that in Rise for me. Jonah almost dying, Ana's betrayal and death, Jacob's death, etc, had no impact on me.

I feel the same, I think EM's story execution is much better than CD's, if given more creative freedom I don't doubt they may come up with something much better.

i've been saying since shadow's release,
if they really wanted to shoehorn the parents narrative into the trilogy all of the things they did in shadow (the playable flashback/dream sequence, amelia's character actually existing, etc.) should've been put in rise. then maybe that game would've made sense, because those moments are actually pretty well executed and they do get you to have some sort of investment in the situation.

Can we all agree that this concept is what all of us want in a future Tomb Raider title? https://www.reddit.com/r/TombRaider/...m_source=share

No. Reminded me a bit of an Ascension boss fight I saw which I also didn't like.

Boss fights should be done like they were in Legend imo where there is an element of combat and puzzles to win. But they were made too easy by all the on screen prompts and they were too frequent. The James Rutland fight is one of my favourites as I like the music and the ad-libbing from James. Plus there was genuine thought into how to beat him and if there hadnít been icons all over the place then you would have actually had to think about how to take him down. To make it bigger too into could have been combined with the Tacomoto fight (obviously not in the game but if those two fights were combined in another game).

No. Actually, we can't. Wouldn't fit at all in the current iteration.

Maybe they dont agree but I think this is the best kind of boss fight we could have, mixing combat and platforming. I love it.
