Default Why aren't we doing mods for the newer TR games?

We aren't we talking about modding the newer games even though there are several mods out there already. Nexus, for example, has a few for each version since the reboot.

Maybe a post to steer people to sites where they can find mods and modding tools for the games we don't mod ourselves on this site might be in order. This is, after all, the definitive TR forum. For years I thought that since they aren't mentioned here, they didn't exist at all.

I think the main reason is because you can't mod as far. Nothing will beat the Classics in terms of modding, you can do so much to the point it can feel like a new game.

Take the whole Level editor community for example

Can't you only mod textures in newer games? All LAU or Reboot mods I've found only change textures like that one for Anniversary (or Legend) which makes Croft manor turn into a silent hill hospital iirc.

Yeah, that's why not many people bother. You can't even model swap

All the TR games since Legend are very hard to mod, because Crystal Dynamics always puts all the game files into other files called "bigfiles", and it is very hard to modify them. The farthest you can go in modding is to change the textures. That's basically the only thing you can do. You can't add/modify/delete anything else.

I still dream of playing Legend or Anniversary with AoD Lara, but its not likely as other people have pointed out. <\3

I was never interested even playing the reboot games since 2013 due to the realistic gore and violence, so modding was totally out for me regarding these games.

TRL, TRA, and TRU....
Once we reached TR legend, TR Anniversary and TR Underworld it was just a case of modifying textures using Texmod, or using specific trainers, which gave jiggly boobs, removal of water, etc. A rather limited amount of modification, as there were a lack of tools available to create mods that we wanted.

Well you can add items and characters, some of which do animate, by hacking the code.

Quite major modifications could be done by hacking the .exe using code, which was frowned upon by some moderators on here at the time, so all traces on how it could be done were removed very quickly, but not until I took a note of how to do it, he he

Here are some video examples of mine.....
Additional helicopters troops, dummies, boulders, sea serpents, dancing girls....

Here's a link to a tutorial for installing the face mod for Lara in Shadow of the Tomb Raider (not Ryder, as the lady keeps saying).

Sadly, most of the other costume modders seem to be focusing on skimpy costumes. I guess that's what happens when we at TRF take a back seat. Our mods for TR Legend were - pardon the pun - legendary, with some really talented artists (Axelia et. al.).

Not entirely true...

Last year (or 2 years ago, I can't remember) Heckler or Nakamichi (can't remember who) succeeded to inject a high poly model into AoD. (the female statue in the Louvre, if I remember correctly)
Also Gh0stblade was able to replace Lara's hair to Sam's hair in TR2013.
He even succeeded to import the DE version of Lara to PC. (I can't remember if it was xbox to pc, or ps to pc.)

Also I remember there was someone who tried to make the TRU dlcs work on PC, but was not succesful.
