This is honestly the best solution. However, if the computer is running Mac OS it may take some tinkering and extra applications in order to work properly.

I wouldn't call that an ideal solution.

Most of the required files (including data files, for various fixes to textures and the Lara model etc), have been shared on this forum in the past. One can simply make a new folder, and begin adding the required files (albeit from different sources) to this folder. You'd need a few files from the original TR3 installation such as the audio folder (TLA uses the same cdaudio.wad), the fmv folder with just the logo.rpl inside, and updated .dll files winplay, winstr, winsdec, dec130 and edec from the multipatch/GoG/Steam installs. The images for the LA pix folder can be found here.

The multipatcher utility never provided a No-CD TRA executable like it did for TR3, but a No-CD TRA executable has been posted multiple times over the last few years here. In addition to that, there also exists Arsunt's patch, which is a great alternative.

Wasn't Square supposed to get back in contact a year ago about this? Not even they or their legal team, nor any company on the face of the planet care about this game. The Tomb Raider websites should just upload it already and call it a day. The company that originally owned and distributed this is gone and this game has been out of print for years. I seriously doubt if they wanted to they would have the legal means to do anything. In some areas items being out of print and abandoned is enough to give free reign to people who want it.

Are we going to continue to pretend like paying for it is legal? Your just paying someone to give you the copy they got which to be honest the law never decided if that was legal or not. It was just the flow of things and companies never complained about it.

Is anyone losing any money? No the game is out of print and abandoned. The publisher now couldn't be bothered with Ghostware. I say upload it and on the off chance of 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000001% anyone complains then just take it down then. It' seriously no big deal.

I would do it myself, but I couldn't promote it here given the terms of service so yeah.

I can guarantee the moment it's uploaded somewhere is when Square Enix will care and ask for it to be taken down.

Seriously though, I totally agree with what you're saying. It doesn't take a year to get back to someone. They don't particularly care about the classics. The ones available to purchase on steam require third party patches in order to work correctly (widescreen border fix for one). You shouldn't require third party in order to have something work that you've just paid for.

The only possible reason they're holding off is potentially because they want to save it for a remastered collection possibly? This is highly unlikely though.
